Role and Team
As a Security Guard, you will be an integral part of the Security Team executing processes at our facility to ensure our associates, customers, and assets are protected. At our gates, you will be the face of ADESA to our customers, vendors and associates. You will play an active role in ensuring our Inventory Control procedures are followed. You will be adept at utilizing ADESA technology. You will support vehicle location research when necessary. This position is hourly and reports to the Operations or designated manager. This position may work various shifts and weekends.
Responsibilities
Secure all gates and buildings and patrol the premises. Sound alarms and notify authorities in case of emergency.
Verify only authorized individuals enter the property. Provide facility directions to customers, vendors and transporters.
Check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit property.
Check departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property.
Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt and courteous service. Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
When difficult situations arise, de-escalate situations to ensure we win with partners and collaborate on the forefront.
Using a handheld device, input vehicle information including the VIN number, miles, owner identification, vehicle options, repair orders and any other pertinent information.
Verify the VIN number being entered matches the VIN number on the shipper's Bill of Lading.
Watch and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and doors left unsecured.
Account for and identify all keys, codes or other safety and security information
Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers
Maintain good operating condition of all equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers. Notify management of all breakdowns and maintenance needs.
Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work environment
Practice and promote teamwork continuously. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance
Maintain a good flow of communication with all auction team members and leaders

The Protective Security Specialist will be responsible for the safety and security of SCN's key executives and other designated persons, including responsibility for performing security advances of business, events, and other locations, providing close protection, and addressing and/or supporting security requirements related to transportation, lodging, and related needs. This position is based in our Chicago office and requires a flexible schedule with the ability to work nights/weekends and travel extensively.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Provide close protection and other security-related functions for key SCN executives during domestic and some international assignments.
Coordinate with the Protective Security team through the provision of support for security matters ranging from site security to protective intelligence-related threat investigations.
Provide office security at our SCN office including monitoring office security cameras and accepting and examining mail and package deliveries.
Oversee visitor management including screening, documenting all visitors and guests at SCN, escorting them into the facility, badging, and departure.
Perform vulnerability assessments for the SCN executives both at work and at their residences.
Provide security support and advice to staff for meetings and events where key SCN or Jewish Federation executives will be present to ensure an appropriate level of protection.
Engage and maintain effective relationships with local security providers and law enforcement agencies to ensure an ability to cover events or obtain assistance when required.
Coordinate travel, determining the safest hotels with proximity to events, selecting optimal routes, and evaluating third-party ground transportation vendors.
Create operational plans for all travel covering advance work, air travel, hotel, ground transportation, routes, and emergency contingencies.
Coordinate with numerous internal and external teams including corporate travel teams, SCN and Jewish Federation executive management staff, and local law enforcement.
Conduct advance visits to ensure logistics are carefully planned and performed, specifically entry and exit point protocol.
Oversee emergency situations impacting SCN leadership, including security threats, natural and/or human-made disasters, and medical emergencies.
Utilize de-escalation techniques through conversation and managing situations for the protection of the SCN executive and employees.
Provide and utilize first aid, AED, and stop-the-bleed equipment and techniques as necessary.
Advance event locations and have direct contact with local, state, and federal law enforcement for domestic and international travel.
Proactively utilize protective intelligence techniques and information to mitigate threats as they emerge.
Provide corporate event executive protection coverage and support executive activities related to corporate events.
Provide briefings and other security-related training to both SCN and external teams.
Provide personal and travel security awareness briefings for designated individuals and SCN personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
Completion of law enforcement certification from an accredited law enforcement academy or approved United States Military Criminal Investigative or Law Enforcement Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) with at least 10 years of sworn law enforcement experience (candidate is currently sworn law enforcement, retired in good standing, and/or honorably discharged from the military).
Executive Protection experience with C-suite executives.
Must qualify under LEOSA (HR 218) to legally possess a concealed firearm.
Must possess or be able to possess a Permanent Employee Registration Card (P.E.R.C.).
Experience using intelligence database search tools.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport.
CPR, AED, and First Aid training.
Trustworthy with a proven track record of successfully working in a team environment and maintaining strict confidentiality.

The target annual salary range for this position is $100,000-105,000. Essential Functions:
Provides security to assure the safety and well-being of their YRS Site's participants/staff during their work shift.
Completes a minimum of 2 Interior and Exterior Security Perimeter Checks at their assigned YRS Site per shift. Each of these Interior and Exterior Security Perimeter Checks will include a thorough review of all vehicles to ensure they are locked and have not been tampered with in any way since the time of the last Perimeter Check.
Remains current with any/all SmarterU and ADP LMS Online Training and with Dual In - Person/Online trainings, to include Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training Annually and CPR/First Aid Training Biennially.
Assists their YRS Directors/PMs with updating their YRS Site's Emergency Plans as well as assisting with both the running of Emergency Drills and with the scanning in of their Emergency Drills as part of their CARF Quality Review, if they are requested to do so.
Completes Daily Staff Communications (DSCs), which will list at least 1 activity they complete during each hour of every workday. DSCs will either be sent daily using photographs or they can be completed on a weekly basis where they scan in the DSCs and then email them directly to HHCS Manager of Physical Security and Incident Response.
Always carries a charged walkie - talkie on their person during their work shift.
Assists in ensuring the interior of the involved YRS Site is safe/secure for all participants/staff during a protest, regardless of whether the protest occurs at their assigned YRS Site.
Completes other safety and security related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma
Minimum (2) years of experience in security or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications/Licenses:

Work Arrangement:

Public Safety Officers detect and prevent crime and enforce all laws and University rules and regulations, preserving the peace, protecting life and property within their span of control.
Monitors the safety of students, faculty and staff. What You'll Do:
1) Performs Patrol Activity and Incident response.

Takes positive action on complaints/calls for assistance received from faculty, staff, students, visitors and others, providing excellent customer service. May be required to testify in court. If incidents occur, writes incident accident/illness reports and determines transport needs of patient for treatment. Notifies the Chicago Fire Dept for assistance if condition is serious or life-threatening and assists the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department on all incidents on campus.
2) Monitors lobby entrance (Loop) and controls access to unauthorized areas (both LPC and Loop). Observes/screens all visitors/persons entering the premises, monitoring for abnormal activity and questioning suspicious persons. Checks, locks and opens University buildings, classrooms and offices. Checks office areas for suspicious activities.
3) Special Detail/Event Duty.
Provides a variety of services to outside groups who rent space at various times throughout the year (Loop). Assists external law enforcement agencies during dignitary visits; monitors student events that serve alcohol. Handles a variety of issues related to events on campus including, athletic events, festivals, concerts, theatre performance, and move-in weekends (LPC).
4) Provide Escort Services. (LPC)
Provides hospital transports for sick and injured individuals or as requested by University Counseling Services. Provides a daily escort service between the hours of 6 pm and 6 am for the safety of faculty, staff, students and guests on campus.
5) Property Management. (Loop)
Responds to inquiries and enforces university policies on property removal. Assists with routing of deliveries at loading dock.
6) Test and Monitor Equipment and Emergency Radio transmissions.
Tests emergency notification system on a weekly basis. Performs bi-monthly tests of campus emergency call boxes (LPC), and duress alarms.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a high level of alertness and visibility while posted to assigned security locations within the hospital.
Provide superior customer service and assistance to hospital staff, patients, and visitors at all times.

SECURITY ASSISTANT (PART-TIME) OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE The Office of Safety and Security (OSS) supports the academic environment by enhancing the quality of life at all City Colleges' campuses, providing a safe and secure environment that is conducive to learning, and consistent with the educational goals of the City Colleges of Chicago.
Crime prevention and safety throughout the campus community is the primary focus of the Security Operations Department within OSS. Security Officers and related staff provide a range of security services, patrolling campus facilities and grounds, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, as well as other operational aspects of security and safety at the District's college campuses as well as the District Office.
JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision, and reporting to the Director or Assistant Director of Security, patrols and monitors buildings, grounds and other areas at college campuses or at the District Office to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff and the general public.
These are unarmed positions that support Security Officers and the activities of the OSS. Performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / Questions
* Provides a uniformed presence at an assigned college or the District Office, monitoring access and entry to buildings for the safety and security of students, employees and the general public.
* Patrols on foot and in a vehicle to provide security and watch for unusual or suspicious activities, and monitors activities in campus buildings and surrounding grounds to guard against crime, theft and vandalism.
