Under general supervision of the District Supervisor, the District Enforcement Specialist is responsible for implementation of district plans, operations and services in the Northgate District, to include but not limited to providing prompt, courteous and effective customer service to stakeholders, citizens and visitors; enforcing City Ordinances; and implementing and enforcing district policies, procedures, and activities to improve the overall condition of the area and enhance neighborhood integrity.
* Perform parking operations within the district, to include but not limited to completing monetary and financial functions, staffing pay stations and gates to ensure the proper and safe flow of customers and vehicles, conducting garage and other parking asset services and general maintenance, etc.
* Perform parking enforcement through actively working to resolve unsafe and/or illegal parking situations in the district and city. Issue citations and cause the removal of illegally parked vehicles in response to parking and other ordinance violations, if necessary or required.
* Perform district services, to include but not limited to refuse collection and management, upkeep of common areas, pressure washing, performing minor horticulture work, vandalism response and control, graffiti identification and removal, aiding in the identification and removal of district nuisances and monitoring and addressing other needs as identified.
* Assist and participate in the planning, production and implementation of special events in the district, to include but not limited to vendor relations, closing streets, bollard/barricade management, logistical support, entertainment coordination, event operations, and site preparation, etc.
* Coordinate, assist and communicate with various district stakeholders, including other municipal departments, to implement respective activities and efforts. Interact with and assist citizens and visitors, including responding to questions and receiving feedback regarding district assets, operations and policies.
* Perform other duties as assigned and/or directed, including but not limited to assisting with activities related to overseeing and/or coordinating work assignments for community workers.
Required:

* Valid Texas Driver's License

* Ability to work Texas A&M University home football games and other special events as identified

Responsibilities:
Patrols buildings and grounds on foot or car and looks for suspicious activity, unlocked doors, fires, vandalism and act as a deterrent to criminal activity by their presence. Due to less managerial oversight during non-business hours, may be required to make decisions and apply discretion on security issues and criminal reporting issues more frequently than similar positions during business hours.
Provides “on-site” security by assuming specific duties within certain buildings, such as libraries, athletic facilities and research laboratories, as well as property of TAMU located off campus. Due to conditions of darkness, must be more alert for hazards and security threats.
Provides information to visitors, students, and employees or directs such inquiries to appropriate personnel.

Job Description
The Public Safety Officer assists in providing a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors at assigned location so faculty can focus on teaching and students can concentrate on learning. Provides general assistance (gives directions, answers questions, provides information, etc.) to faculty, staff, students and visitors and projects a positive image of PVAMU by maintaining a pleasant and professional demeanor. Contributes to the overall safety and security of students, employees, visitors and PVAMU property by maintaining a uniformed presence. Requests assistance from Prairie View University police officers for law enforcement matters, or off-campus police, fire, and EMS personnel as needed. Assists PMVAMU Police Officers as directed within the scope of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
This Evergreen position will be used by PVAMU
UPD to hire multiple candidates for this role.
Campus Patrol
Patrols campus grounds and buildings on foot or in golf carts; reports safety hazards and physical security deficiencies verbally and in writing.
Walks through buildings monitoring the hallways with attention to classroom activity to create a comfortable and safe academic environment.
Makes written reports regarding suspicious activities. Stays vigilant in order to observe and report any need for police officer response. Periodically tours parking lot to ensure safety of property. Renders vehicle services in the form of jump-starts, vehicle door unlocks, and the calling of wreckers as requested. Enforces PVAMU and location regulations of a non-law enforcement nature (parking, smoking, etc.).
Emergency Response
Responds to medical or fire assistance requests, aiding the Officer and/or leading the responding EMS/Fire Department personnel to the appropriate location in conjunction with a PVAMU Police Officer.
Monitors and responds to fire alarms, checks fire extinguishers while on patrol to ensure that they are in place and charged, and reports those that need maintenance.
Responds to low risk calls for service to assess the scene and determine the need for police, fire, or EMS response.
Customer Service
Ensures faculty and staff have access to the facilities they need to perform their job upon request.
Locks/unlocks doors on a regular schedule and as requested by individuals (if appropriate).
Provides general assistance to students, visitors, faculty and staff as needed. Answers questions from employees and visitors. If unable to give correct information, directs them to the proper person to answer their question.
Directs traffic and guests on events held at various locations within the confines of PVAMU owned or controlled property.
Other Duties as Assigned
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
High School graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Six months related experience or six months as Security Officer in Training with demonstrated proficiency in all phases of duties performed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all segments of the campus population.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Must be able to obtain State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator's license within 30 days of employment. Inability to obtain State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator's license may result in termination.
Other Requirements:
Requires working outside. Applicant must successfully complete a background investigation to include but not limited to driving history, criminal background and credit history.
This position is shift work and will work weekends, evenings and some holidays.
Some positions will serve our Northwest Houston campus and The College of Nursing located in the Texas Medical Center.
