The primary function of the Security Officer is to undertake the surveillance of our premises and protection of our staff and visitors in our Call Center. You will be responsible for detecting any suspicious behavior and preventing vandalism, thefts or other criminal behavior and will report to the Workplace Solutions Team and Site Director.
Responsibilities:
Respond to phone calls (including emergency situations) from site leadership.
Document Daily activity in Report log
Seasonal tasks and special projects as assigned.
Must be able to operate standard equipment for janitorial tasks.
Interpret and follow directions, written and/or oral.
Complete assigned duties in a timely manner
Communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and site leadership.
Successfully perform a wide variety of janitorial and security duties
Work rapidly and independently
The Security position can be physically demanding and requires the capability to sit, stand, walk, climb, twist, and the ability to push, pull and lift objects greater than 25 lbs.
Requirements:
Proven experience as security officer or guard
Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
Familiarity with report writing.
Excellent surveillance and observation skills

Security at VOA Spokane looks different than traditional security jobs.
As a Security Officer / SecuritySpecialist, you are not just monitoring buildings - you are helping create environments where people feel safe enough to rest, recover, and move forward. This role is relationship-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in calm presence, communication, and situational awareness.
You will often be the first point of contact during evening and overnight hours, supporting participants, staff, and facilities through de-escalation, clear communication, and steady decision-making. The role includes a mix of stationary dispatch work and mobile response, depending on location and operational needs.

Schedule & Available Shifts
This is a full-time position (minimum 40 hours per week). Security roles are available across multiple schedules, with specific assignments confirmed during the hiring process.

The Asset Protection Specialist is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store/multiple stores. They utilize tools to minimize loss to the Company, including but not limited to identifying incidents of theft and fraud, reviewing CCTV and exception reports, monitoring the store's physical security, auditing the Electronic Article Surveillance and driving a shrink elimination culture in the store. Other responsibilities include: preparing accurate and detailed case reports documenting your apprehensions and recoveries, preserving evidence, interacting with law enforcement and testifying in criminal and civil court actions. The Asset Protection Specialist must report any hazardous or unsafe condition to the Manager on Duty and carry out job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to themselves, other associates, vendors, customers, and the Company. They must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to asset protection and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives while supporting key asset protection and operational responsibilities.

1 Salaried associates are eligible for 2 weeks of vacation in their first year; FT hourly will be eligible for 40 hours of paid vacation time after 6 months of continuous service; PT will be eligible for 20 hours of paid vacation time after 6 months of continuous service; Temporary associates are not eligible for vacation benefits.
