Position Summary
There is a vacancy for Campus Security Specialist at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School.
Under the direction of administration, the Campus Security Specialist (10-month position) is responsible for overall safety and security of RSD 17 facilities and grounds, maintaining order, enforcing RSD17 policies and procedures, and understanding and identifying student behavioral issues and using appropriate techniques to resolve issues.

The Campus Security Specialist will:
Patrol and monitor interior and exterior of buildings to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff and visitors and to ensure the security of the facility
Establish a visible and professional presence in school facilities and grounds to deter incidents and to detect situations requiring assistance
Identify and understand student behavioral issues through training and use appropriate techniques to resolve issues
Provide assistance to visitors and direct or escort them as needed
Prevent unauthorized access to school property and buildings by providing a visible presence, ensuring access control measures are enforced, and providing diligent patrols of school property and facilities
Identify suspicious or unauthorized individuals to determine reasons for being on school property. Guide, escort or control individuals suspected of illegal or prohibited activity
Respond to calls for assistance and emergency situations including but not limited to disruptive and or disorderly incidents, medical emergencies and fires in an attempt to protect life and property and restore and maintain order
Use de-escalation and behavioral management techniques to attempt to resolve issues
Encourage and ensure that all staff and visitors are displaying proper identification badges at all times
Assist staff and first responders in handling emergency or disruptive situations
Work closely with school staff to promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model and providing positive interactions with students
Investigate and document incidents and accidents
Assist building administrators and central office staff with planning and carrying out required monthly crisis drills
Operate and monitor building CCTV systems to identify possible issues and investigate incidents
Report to building administrator or supervisor any condition or practices that interferes with the safety of students, staff or visitors
Provide traffic direction and control as required
Attend training and meetings as required
Take daily direction from school building administrators
Travel between sites for routine or emergency purposes
Be available for voluntarily and forced overtime assignments as needed
Report discipline matters, suspected physical, mental and/or substance abuse to proper authorities immediately
Adhere to federal, state, and local laws and regulations in relation to the physical control and restraint of students and staff to include those governed by the Connecticut State Department of Education
Maintain the strictest confidence concerning personnel, students and operational concerns of the district
Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
Report all cases of suspected child abuse to appropriate school personnel and proper school authority
The Campus Security Specialist must be able to:
Maintain a stationary position for extended periods of time to operate computer, printer, telephone and other desktop equipment,
Move about the building and grounds routinely throughout the school day
Communicate with staff, parents, and students in a professional manner
Have after-school availability to work athletic, music, art events, and dances.

The Security Specialist is responsible for performing security and safety functions within a cannabis cultivation facility. As a Security Specialist, you are responsible for providing critical security and administrative support to management. Security Specialists may be cross-trained and asked to support other departments occasionally to meet business needs.
This is a part time position at $20 out of our Rocky Hill (CTPharma) facility - depending on delivery route, likely 4 to 5 hours per day, 7am-Noon but may vary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Check in all employees, visitors, vendors, and deliveries.
* Ensure all visitors, vendors, and delivery drivers sign in on the sign-in sheet.
* Scan IDs and provide temporary badges to visitors, vendors, and delivery drivers.
* Maintain all hard copy and digital logs of scanned IDs, sign-in sheets, and all facility logs.
* Provide general support to visitors, vendors, and delivery drivers.
* Review surveillance video of events and create/maintain event logs from all security systems.
* Create new badge access cards for new employees, visitors, and vendors.
* Alert management for required support on all security systems-skyline cameras, Strat security/fire alarms, and internet connectivity.
* Coordinate delivery schedules and outgoing office shipments with management.
* Monitor and maintain quality control measures in accordance with state and local laws.
* Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the facility and production areas.
* Immediately inform Security Manager of any system discrepancies.
* Document all activity using company's track and trace system.
* Work within company continuous improvement system and strive to increase productivity.
* Check in and check out all van keys for drivers.
* Give all cash to Human Resources or appropriate party for accounting.
* Schedule weekly armored vehicle pickups for cash deposits from order fulfillment.
* Ensure door is locked during any time cash is out.
* Coordinate with corporate's finance department to ensure all cash is accounted for.
* Accept cash from all delivery drivers on every delivery and store in safe.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
* Previous experience in security operations and procedures required.
* Must have a positive attitude and work well with others in a team environment.
* Willing to learn about, operate, and maintain facility equipment in a safe manner.
* Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Must be authorized to work in the United States.
* Must be 21 years of age or older and able to successfully register with the state's cannabis commission as an agent.

Provide crossing guard services, ensuring the safety of pedestrians.
Check all campus fire protection equipment on a regular basis.
Inspect all campus buildings on a regular basis to ensure compliance with state and local fire regulations, reporting improvements needed.
Monitor campus property for safety hazards, reporting violations and instituting immediate corrective action if possible. Submit work orders for repairs when needed.
Maintain a complete log for each tour of duty; register all activity, the precise time service was provided, and all unusual conditions when discovered.
Thoroughly investigate all incidents involving the safety and welfare of the students, faculty, and staff; report the results to the Director of Safety and Security both verbally and by incident reports.
Worked assigned security details at school-sponsored functions.
Willingness to cover all shifts as needed to ensure adequate coverage or to assist in an emergency.
Assist faculty and administration in enforcing all School safety rules and regulations.
Work in conjunction with local police, EMS, and fire officials.
Adhere to established School policies and guidelines and follow specific instructions
Immediately notify the Director of Safety and Security of all major incidents.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
