About the Role
We are seeking a proven people leader to manage a high-performing presales team of Enterprise Security Advisors and Architects-former practitioners and consultants in Data Security-who deliver customer-facing executive workshops and act as 'field CISO' advisors. This leader will coach and scale a team that drives outcomes in Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Insider Risk, and AI Governance, advancing customer security maturity and accelerating strategic sales cycles. You will own team performance, enablement, operating rhythms, and stakeholder alignment-partnering closely with Sales Leadership, Product Management, and Marketing/Enablement to influence product roadmap, shape market narratives, and deliver measurable business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & People Management: Lead, coach, and develop a team of Enterprise Security Advisors/Architects; build a culture of customer-outcomes, technical excellence, inclusion, and accountability; recruit and onboard talent; conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
Customer Value & 'Field CISO' Advisory: Oversee delivery of executive Data Security workshops (DLP, Insider Risk, AI Governance); ensure team provides prescriptive guidance across policy, process, controls, tooling, and adoption.
Sales Partnership & Deal Acceleration: Partner with Sales Leadership and Account Teams to align coverage, prioritize opportunities, and drive pipeline velocity and win rates.
Product & Roadmap Influence: Create closed-loop feedback mechanisms with Product Management to represent field/customer needs; contribute to product beta programs and roadmap prioritization.
Operational Excellence & Metrics: Own weekly operating rhythms, forecasting, resource allocation, and capacity planning; define and report KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with Professional Services, Customer Success, Legal/Compliance, and Partners/SIs to extend reach and accelerate customer programs.
Required Qualifications
8-12+ years in Data Security, Information Security, or Risk-including time as a practitioner and/or consultant.
3-5+ years leading technical presales, solution architecture, or advisory teams.
Demonstrated expertise delivering executive workshops and advisory engagements across DLP, Insider Risk, and AI Governance.
Strong command of data security maturity models and controls mapping to frameworks such as NIST CSF/800-53, ISO 27001, CIS, SOC 2, and privacy regulations.
Hands‑on familiarity with enterprise data security tooling (DLP platforms, CASB/SSE, DSPM, IRM, SIEM/SOAR, EDR/XDR, cloud‑native controls).
Executive communication skills and proven ability to set metrics, forecast, and run operational cadences.

In this position, you will serve as a SecuritySpecialist, overseeing the implementation of programs and policies related to Personnel Security (PERSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Physical Security and Communications Security (COMSEC), Facilities and Emergency Preparedness.
This position starts at a salary of $89,508.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $138,370.00 (GS-13, Step 10)

Major Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
* Assisting in maintenance of personnel security records. Conducts appropriate Special Compartmented Information (SCI) briefings/debriefings as assigned for cleared personnel.
* Making extensive independent technical judgements concerning the interpretation and implementation of existing security procedures, methods, and in deciding which analytical and technical decisions form the basis for major security program policy and operational decisions by upper management.
* Serving as Communications Security (COMSEC)/Top Secret Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Manager. Responsible for the safeguarding, accounting for and when necessary, destruction of TOP SECRET COMSEC material, cryptographic communication, keying material, and equipment.
* Providing advice, assistance, and guidance to supervisors, managers, and employees on complex physical security matters concerning the integrity of the Special Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
* Interpreting new or proposed legislation, directives, and other agency guidance, to recommend and develop internal security programs policies and procedures to support Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) operations.
* Providing technical assistance and direct support to management staff on all matters related to security service programs on the integrity of the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) facilities.
* Overseeing Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) facilities and equipment, while maintaining contacts with federal agencies and established security policies, objectives, and regulations.
* Overseeing the implementation and coordination of research and analysis of security programs to support Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) lifecycle functions.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
* Providing proficient Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) briefings and debriefings on security fractions, violations, and assists in official inquiries when appropriate.
* Managing various Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) administrative actions to closely examine security legislation or revised security regulations and to reevaluate and make recommendations concerning expected impact on programs, missions, and future strategic plans.
* Facilitating with other federal agencies as an expert security advisor to leadership and management on security planning, resource allocation, systems, and programs to better secure Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) facilities and equipment.
* Serving as program coordinator for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) facilities and equipment impacting operational readiness, safety and the security of technical systems which affect federal agencies, private entities, and the general public.

Provides a wide range of services to the University community including crime prevention, crime control, parking control and furnishing aid and information to the campus community and visitors. Duties include responding to 911 emergency-style calls, investigating alarms, responding to crimes in progress and scenes of past crimes or incidents. The public safety officer will understand the diverse and cultural aspects of the University community. The public safety officer performs duties in cooperation with the San Diego Police Department and local fire and medical services to minimize harm to victims, witnesses to crimes, and those responding or involved in emergency situations. Routine duties include responding to non-emergency calls for service, providing information, collaborating with student organizations, staff, faculty, and students residing in campus housing to reduce crime and fear, as well as, investigating and preparing written reports on crime, accidents, and injuries.

Safety and security is coordinated by University Police, through a force of 42 sworn full-time police officers, 40 sworn part-time, and 25 non-sworn support employees. Our police officers are graduates of the California Peace Officers Standards Training Academy with full arrest powers throughout the state. They undergo continued training to upgrade their skills as well as first aid and CPR. University Police officers are armed. They conduct foot, vehicular and bicycle patrols on campus and in the adjacent community 24 hours a day.
