Patrol and inspect assigned areas of the property, check areas for unauthorized persons or vehicles, unlocked doors, and fire and safety hazards. Respond to emergencies promptly, evaluate the nature and severity of the situation, and act accordingly, including calling for assistance and interacting with local law enforcement and other EMS services if necessary. Apprehend and hold individuals who are involved in criminal activity. Write detailed reports of theft, injury, property damage, conditions of property, unauthorized person's on-site, etc. and be able to testify in court if required. Perform inspections of all items brought into the park through the metal detectors. Maintain control of Toll Plaza, Park entry and exits. Escort guests and/or ambassadors as needed. Ensure all Training Material is practiced in the workplace including Park, Departmental, and Private Security License/Updates. Address Guest Concerns as they arise in the assigned location. Always be professional and provide exceptional guest service by answering questions, giving directions and/or enhancing the guest experience. Conduct training sessions to introduce new ambassadors to the department policies and procedures. Provide ongoing coaching and support to existing ambassadors to enhance their skills and performance. Enforce campus policies and procedures as may relate to safety and security concerns. Assist Residence and Student Life with enforcement of hall regulations and Code of Conduct Violations. Make regular inspection tours of the campus facilities noting unusual occurrences. Watch for trespassers, fire, water leaks, or other circumstances which could lead to loss or damage to property and equipment. Unlock buildings as scheduled for events and ensure all windows and doors are locked as scheduled. Observe and report hazardous conditions to management. Ensure inside and outside lights are turned on/off as required and informs supervisor when any electrical or mechanical system is malfunctioning. Ensure only authorized persons are admitted to the campus while on duty. Direct visitors and assists as necessary. Monitor parking lots and direct traffic and parking as necessary. Enforce campus traffic regulations including parking, and speeding. Enforce campus policies including smoking, alcohol usage, and drug usage. Observe weather conditions on campus and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to management. Act as a liaison for Midwestern with local law enforcement. The site-based security officer's actions cannot be intolerably harsh and rigid when enforcing the safety policies, procedures, and protocols. The site-based security officers must always have respect and regard for the students and staff's emotional and social well-being. Job duties require continued readiness to respond to situations within specified departmental procedures that may be life-threatening or harmful, including exposure to dangerous chemicals or other toxic substances, infectious diseases, fire, gunshots, physical confrontations, etc. Duties are performed as assigned in all weather conditions and on any shift (day or night). Conduct foot patrols (monitor) inside and outside assigned schools. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following. General duties consist of preserving the peace, protecting District property, preventing criminal acts, apprehension of violators, enforcement of District policies, enforcement of the Student Handbook, and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the Security Department's Operations Manual. The site-based security officer shall be under the direct supervision of the first line security site-based security supervisor to whose area they are assigned. The site-based officer shall perform all duties prescribed by the first line site-based security supervisor or the assistant security director (or designee). Duties are performed as assigned in all weather conditions and on any shift (day or night). Must be able to work any shift as assigned with the understanding that the Security Department has a 24-hour responsibility to protect the students, staff, equipment, and facilities of the Kansas City, Missouri School District. The site-based security officer shall act under the direction of the school's principal for day-to-day activities. However, the site-based security officer will remain under the management control of the Safety & Security Department. Must remain professional and objective in all situations. Exercise sound judgment while under stress. Must be able to react to situations utilizing appropriate levels of force as required and within the Security Department and district-wide level of force options. Must communicate verbally, in body language, and in writing. Reports must be clear, concise, and complete with minimal spelling and grammar errors. Shall be familiar with all district policies and administrative directives that affect the operation of the Security Department. Shall familiarize themselves with federal & state laws and city ordinances as they apply to the School District. Attend all in-service training, as may be required by the Security Department Management. Shall accept transfers to different assignments in the district's best interest. Responsible for maintaining and cleaning department-issued equipment. Shall be responsible for answering calls for service routed from the dispatcher communication center via district-issued cell phones, hand-held radios, mobile base station radios, and other modes of communication. Initiate contact with and maintain a good working relationship with other law enforcement agencies and security organizations during their job performance. Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of benefits and retirement programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely service delivery. * Serve as the primary point of contact for complex employee benefit and retirement inquiries, resolving issues and providing expert-level guidance. * Oversee the enrollment, maintenance, and termination processes for a variety of benefit and retirement plans, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and pension or 401(k) programs. * Lead and conduct internal audits of benefit and retirement data, payroll deductions, vendor invoices, and compliance procedures; identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions. * Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws (e.g., FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA) and internal policies related to benefits and retirement administration. * Review, process, and approve HR-related invoices, such as insurance premiums, vendor service charges, and retirement contributions; ensure accurate coding and reconciliation with finance. * Maintain and monitor confidential HRIS data and documentation to support benefits, retirement, and audit readiness. * Collaborate with payroll, finance, and external vendors to ensure accuracy and timeliness of benefit deductions, retirement contributions, and invoice payments. * Supervise and support HR team members or administrative staff involved in benefit-related functions, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. * Lead or assist in the planning and execution of special HR projects and initiatives, including annual open enrollment, benefits fairs, and wellness programs. * Analyze benefits and retirement utilization data, prepare reports, and present findings to HR leadership to support decision-making. * Develop and implement procedures to streamline benefits processes and improve service delivery. * Assist in the development and distribution of employee communication materials, policy updates, and training related to benefits, retirement, and compliance. * Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA). * Coordinate and manage FMLA leave requests and ensure accurate tracking and documentation. REQUIREMENTS: On-site office role: Daily physical on-site presence in the office, consistent attendance, and reliable punctuality are essential functions of this position. Any changes or adjustments to your assigned work schedule or shift hours must be approved by your supervisor in advance. EDUCATION & SPECIAL LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. EXPERIENCE: * Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible HR experience with at least two (2) years focused on benefits and/or retirement administration. * Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred. * Demonstrated experience in conducting HR or financial audits and processing/reconciling invoices. * Strong working knowledge of applicable HR laws and compliance standards. SKILLS: * Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and financial or auditing tools. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: * Attention to Detail: The role requires a high level of accuracy and thoroughness in completing tasks. The ability to focus on detailed work for extended periods is essential to ensure quality and compliance. * Work Environment Adaptability: The position is based in a cubicle office environment that may have moderate to high noise levels (e.g., conversations, office equipment). The ideal candidate must be able to concentrate and perform effectively in this setting. * Cognitive Abilities: Must possess the ability to: * Maintain focus in a structured, sometimes noisy environment * Organize and prioritize work efficiently * Handle repetitive tasks with consistency * Follow complex instructions and procedures accurately PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to work onsite Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM * Mobility to work in a typical office setting. * Ability to communicate in person and over the telephone. * Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen. * Ability to travel to City facilities. * Routine use of computer, phone, and other office equipment. * Hand and eye coordination adequate to input data into the computer. * Visual stamina and acuity adequate to review alpha/numeric data and to spend long periods looking at computer screens. * Ability to sit and be attentive for extended periods. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (Direct & Indirect): * Supervisor of Human Resources Benefit Coordinator Requirements: No City residency requirement. Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, physical exam and essential functions test. Normal Work Hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri. With easy access to major highways, along with the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, restaurants, shopping and other entertainment, Kansas Speedway has easily become a destination for fans. The track hosts two NASCAR Cup Series races, the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series. In addition to two race weekends, Kansas Speedway hosts over 200 event days each year. Security Event staff provide visible security presence to guests and control access through many of the gates during event time. Screen all persons entering ticketed and/or secure areas for valid credentials/tickets. Assist guests with questions regarding directions, information about the facility, parking, and disabled assistance. Security staff may be asked to assist with moving equipment, setting up signs, barricades, and fencing in support of our events. This position is seasonal and applicants are expected to be available to work the NASCAR racing events scheduled for April 16th-19th and September 24th-27th.
