Public Safety Officer Reports To: Public Safety Supervisor Supervises: None Primary Function: Detects and prevents crime, enforces all Saint Vincent rules and regulations, enforces all Pennsylvania laws, preserves the peace and protects life and property within his/her span of control. Essential Duties: Patrol Saint Vincent Archabbey College and Seminary grounds by vehicle, bicycle and on foot to prevent and detect violations of Saint Vincent rules and regulations, vandalism, fires, disorderly conduct, theft, etc. Report all violations and incidents to appropriate authorities. Enforce Pennsylvania laws as permitted by Saint Vincent policy. Report all safety, medical emergencies, accidents, hazardous conditions, and any unusual situations to appropriate authorities. Provide student and employee security escort services as requested. Provide first aid until a competent medical authority arrives. This includes CPR and the use of the Automatic External Defibrillator. Maintain certification in basic First Aid, CPR and AED operation. Respond to fire alarms and assist fire department. Determine the need for shelter for evacuees. Respond to burglar alarms. Arm or disarm alarm systems. Assist in conducting fire alarm testing and drills. Respond to other types of alarms such as temperature, water levels, and boiler low pressure. Properly and safely carry and use, when necessary, various security devices. Investigate complaints and traffic accidents on Saint Vincent property. Conduct follow-up investigations as needed. Detect, analyze, preserve, and collect evidence for use in student disciplinary proceedings. Operate cameras to record crime scene. Prepare diagrams of accidents and crime scenes. Conduct interviews of Witnesses, Victims and Suspects. Obtain statements. Protect Crime scenes. Prepare for and present testimony at student disciplinary proceedings and District Court. Lock and unlock buildings, facilities and rooms as required. Monitor traffic for speeding with PA approved device and moving violations. Enforce parking violations. Determine need to issue parking Saint Vincent citations and/or PA citations. Use immobilization device when needed. Monitor and operate closed circuit television systems throughout campus. Review recoding devices to determine evidence of crimes. Make copies of incidents and retain as evidence for future administrative or criminal investigative use. Direct traffic for special events and as needed. Attend all mandatory training and meetings even if not scheduled to work on that day. Work overtime for special events, even if not scheduled to work, including but not limited to, move-in day, graduation week, Steelers Summer Training Camp, concerts, guest speakers, basketball games, football games, etc. Work overtime during emergency situations, even if not scheduled to work, as college needs are determined. Prepare all the required paperwork. Operate computer equipment and programs. This includes, but is not limited to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Automated Records Management System, and System Galaxy. Must be able to use the college's email system. Comply with all written and verbal instructions. Research appropriate Saint Vincent publications for policy statements. Maintain a working knowledge of Pennsylvania State Criminal and Motor Vehicle statutes. Employ and operate Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) in response to alcohol incidents. Maintain certification in its employment and use. Conduct field sobriety tests as needed using departmental approve methods and practices. Maintain certification in the use of pepper (oleoresin capsicum) spray and the ASP expandable baton. Comply with departmental policy in the use of force. Employ handcuffs and other restraining devices as needed in accordance with departmental policy. Other Duties: Promote Crime Prevention programs such as Operation Identification. Conduct Crime Prevention Surveys and report results. Give visitors directions. Be customer oriented. Conduct checks of physical plant at night to ensure lighting is in working order. Report all outages. Conduct other types of investigations as requested. Work overtime when needed. Maintain vehicle, office, and personal equipment in good repair and working order. Evaluate individuals for the level of intoxication and take appropriate action. Jump-start vehicles. Unlock vehicles using appropriate tools and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Special Challenges and Environment: Handling bloodborne pathogens/hazardous materials and disposing of them. Be subjected to physical violence and verbal abuse. Job DescriptionDefinition: This position is responsible for the supervision of all Renewal, Inc. Security staff, building safety and security and ensure the productive operation of all security stations and functions. Supervisory responsibilities for this position include staffing, assisting in payroll completion, scheduling and adhering to and enforcing Renewal, Inc.'s policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include supervising the movement of reentrants on a twenty-four hour basis and reentrant accountability by the consistent enforcement of rules and regulations, coordinating large scale and daily searches and providing a safe environment for staff, reentrants and visitors. Individual will prioritize emergency and non-emergency issues and use discretion in various situations. This person will act as the point person in the Security department during extraordinary occurrences. Eligibility Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perfvorm each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalency and two years related experience required. One year of supervisory experience required. Overview This part-time Event Supervisor, Security position provides managerial assistance and essential support for PPG Paints Arena events including hockey games, concerts, family shows, etc. Specifically, an Event Staff Supervisor assists in the supervision of ushers, event security, ticket takers, and other event staff members. Responsibilities Essential Duties: Supervises Security Guards at Employee Entrance and is responsible for dispatch calls in the Command Post for a given event Serves as a point-of-contact for employees who seek assistance relating to guest service challenges, housekeeping matters, security concerns, etc. Provides solutions to aforementioned issues by communicating with guests, management, department leads, and/or command center Assists in sustaining PPG Paints Arena security initiative by supporting proper employee behaviors, properly addressing any failures and reporting issues to management Encourages development of employees' security skills and assists with incentive program Provides clear, concise, and timely communication of detailed event requirements to event staff Provide clear, concise, and timely radio communication when handling guest incidents or complaints Is proactive in seeking out ways to improve service, employee procedures, etc. Understands emergency response plan and can help facilitate process with assigned employees Monitors functioning of elevators, escalators, etc. and contacts management/service personnel in the event of any problems involving maintenance or rider issues.
