Description: JOB PURPOSE To serve and protect all persons on campus property and to maintain the security of the campus buildings, facilities, parking lots, walkways, and grounds of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Act as first responder to all campus emergencies, medical and criminal, that could potentially be hazardous and/or life threatening. Enforce campus policies and procedures as may relate to safety and security concerns. Assist Residence and Student Life with enforcement of hall regulations and Code of Conduct Violations. Make regular inspection tours of the campus facilities noting unusual occurrences. Watch for trespassers, fire, water leaks, or other circumstances which could lead to loss or damage to property and equipment. Unlock buildings as scheduled for events and ensure all windows and doors are locked as scheduled. Observe and report hazardous conditions to management. Ensure inside and outside lights are turned on/off as required and informs supervisor when any electrical or mechanical system is malfunctioning. Ensure only authorized persons are admitted to the campus while on duty. Direct visitors and assists as necessary. Monitor parking lots and direct traffic and parking as necessary. Enforce campus traffic regulations including parking, and speeding. Enforce campus policies including smoking, alcohol usage, and drug usage. Observe weather conditions on campus and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to management. Act as a liaison for Midwestern with local law enforcement. Provide awareness education/information on an informal basis to students and employees during other duties. May be required to perform incidental custodial and maintenance duties as required. Perform other duties as assigned. $20 - $27 per hours depending upon qualifications The Security Specialist position focuses on the safety and security of Beacon Mental Health in collaboration with Clinical teams, Facilities, and Law Enforcement/First Responder agencies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Responds to emergencies and codes inside and outside Beacon Mental Health facilities. • Assists with all 911 calls, notifying appropriate Beacon personnel of emergency status, and communicating with Law Enforcement/First Responder agencies as appropriate. • Collaborates with the other Crisis team members, CBHL team, Facility team, and code team staff to ensure all staff, clients, and visitors are safe during crisis incidents. • Patrols building and surrounding property throughout shift, monitors surveillance equipment, and along with crisis or facility staff investigates security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior. • Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, reviewing with supervisor and Safety Committee. • Participates in Crisis and code team meetings, Safety Committee, in-service trainings, and workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions and promote agency safety. • Assists with the development and implementation of safety plans for various locations and special events. • Assists staff in efforts to meet customer needs by directing and controlling traffic flow/parking and providing directions • Provides assistance as requested to staff, visitors, and clients including vehicle and safety escorts. • Maintains the organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal and accreditation requirements. • Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) Certifications/Licenses • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or related social service field and one (1) year of qualifying experience or three (3) years of qualifying experience . Qualifying experience includes: Providing safety or security compliance, incident reporting, accreditation compliance, and/or emergency management. • CPR and First Aid Certification Required • Completion of Crisis Intervention Training within 6 months of hiring Experience Required: • 3 years of related experience required with no degree • If degreed, 1 to 3 years prior work-related experience preferred. • Experience with de-escalation and/or crisis intervention techniques is preferred. • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
