Security Officer - Per Diem
Security specialist job in Burlington, VT
Building Name: UVMMC - Medical Center - Main CampusLocation Address: 111 Colchester Avenue, Burlington VermontRegularDepartment: SecurityPer Diem (position has no committed hours and is not benefit eligible) Standard Hours: 0Biweekly Scheduled Hours:Shift: VariablePrimary Shift: -Weekend Needs: As ScheduledSalary Range: Min $24.45 Mid $30.57 Max $36.69Recruiter: Aaron Ducatte
The per-diem role is primarily used to fill open shifts when our full-time officers take time off for one reason or another. We are strictly interested in candidates who have a considerable amount of time in their schedules.
Listed below are some of the conditions we look to meet when hiring someone as a per-diem officer. If you feel you can meet most of these requirements, you would be a great candidate for the position.
Thanks again for your interest!
Candidates must be able to work all shifts. Most of our needs tend to be on days or evenings, but there will be occasional night shifts that will need to be covered
Must be able to work on weekends if needed
Must be available to work entire shifts our hours are Days 0630 - 1500 / Evenings 1430 - 2300 / Nights 2230 - 0700 / Some Variable shifts
We are looking for someone with a lot of free time in their schedules and is available on and given day. Typically, this would be a recently retired person or someone who is self-employed.
We do not expect per-diem officers to always be readily available when we call them for work. However, we are looking for someone who can cover shifts more times than not.
You can expect to be called or texted by a supervisor whenever shifts come available. Expectations would be that you check your personal schedule to see if you are available for the work, a relatively quick response as to yes or no is preferred.
Per-diem officers are not guaranteed work; you can expect hours to be sporadic. Typically, you may be asked to work an entire week or longer if someone goes on vacation, is out on Leave of absence, sick, etc... At the same time, you may go a week or more without work. It really depends on what the needs of the department are at that particular time.
In the summer hours tend to be plentiful, but in the winter, they tend to be reduced as vacation time requests are not as prevalent
NEW increased hourly wage, based on experience. In addition to the hourly rate of pay, there is a $1.60 to $7.60 differential depending on shift.
Are you recently retired, self-employed, or someone who has a lot of free time on their hands and willing to work any shift?
If so, the UVM Medical Center seeks qualified individuals to join the Security team on a per diem basis. This position has no committed schedule/hours and is not benefit eligible. This position calls for someone who has some experience in Security, preferably in a healthcare setting, and has flexibility to fulfill hours, as needed, by the team. The per diem Security Officer covers both planned absences (staff vacation, holiday) and unanticipated absences. Ideal candidates are those looking to continue to be of service in a healthcare/hospital setting. Successful per diem Security Officers are those seeking to augment a part time work schedule, or students who can pick up shifts around class schedules (or on school breaks), or full/partial retirees who would like to continue to work when the opportunity aligns with their schedule.
