Analyzes the data and prepares notifications to be sent to arms dealer(s), legal documentation informing purchaser in the event of denial, listing proper RCW prohibitors and forwarding to purchaser via USPS. As an Armed School Security Officer in our District School Security Officer (DSSO) Program, you'll be a trusted presence on K-12 campuses - ensuring safety, building relationships, and supporting your community. This is a specialized program requiring high levels of critical thinking, discretion, and judgment. DSSOs are in a position to have a large positive impact on our youth, serving as both protectors and role models in the educational environment. We currently have DSSO opportunities available in Yakima and surrounding areas as part of our growing DSSO Program. Responsibilities Serve as a visible and active presence on campus, addressing behavior, safety, and social concerns. Conduct routine patrols of school facilities, including buildings and parking areas. Operate security systems such as alarms and surveillance equipment. Provide guidance and support to students to help maintain a positive educational environment. Coordinate security efforts for extracurricular events and crowd management. Collaborate with local law enforcement on incidents that could impact school safety. Complete reports, logs, and documentation accurately and on time. Perform additional duties as assigned. What You Bring Law Enforcement or Military experience is recommended but not required. Strong interest in the security profession and commitment to PPC's values. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance. Must be available for extracurricular assignments (after-hours school events). Work availability for other PPC assignments while schools are on break or between DSSO assignments. Each team member will be expected to work other PPC assignments while waiting on certifications, training requirements, or available placements. Ability to stand for extended periods and meet physical job requirements. Continued PPC-provided education and development, including state-required training, NASRO, Active Shooter Response, and more. One-year commitment to the DSSO Program upon acceptance. Basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, etc.). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain WA and OR Security Licenses. Armed WA Security License with annual requalification. Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus. Program Wage $23-$25 per hour, depending on experience (DOE) and upon acceptance into the DSSO Program.
