Responsibilities
Summary:
The Air Detention Officer serves as a part of a security crew providing charter aircraft services and is responsible for ensuring the general security and safety of all noncitizen and crew when on-board the aircraft. The security of all areas as required by the appropriate procedures and checklists mustbe always maintained.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Air Detention Officer loads and unloads noncitizen onto and off the aircraft (including those handicapped and/or requiring special assistance); searches noncitizen for contraband; feeds the noncitizen during flight; and escorts the noncitizen to the restroom.
Applies restraints and removes them as applicable.
Identifies proper documentation.
Searches the aircraft for contraband and assists in post flight cabin cleanup.
Loads and unloads property onto and off the aircraft.
Assists with perimeter security as requested.
Maintains checklists and checkpoints throughout the assigned shift.
The Air Detention Officer takes charge of post by securing and protecting personnel and property until properly relieved.
Reports all violations of orders.
Sounds the alarm in case of disorder or emergency.
Reports unusual events that threaten the security of the aircraft or endangers life or property.
Takes reasonable counteraction to save life and property or lessen danger.
Provides for embarkation and debarkation security as required at each Port of Call.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a United States citizen residing in the U.S. and able to obtain visas and inoculations required to permit departure from and entry into the US and all scheduled destinations.
High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
Must posses an active, valid United States passport.
A minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience as a corrections/detention officer within the United States; OR one (1) year of full-time law enforcement experience while employed by a United States federal, state, city or municipality law enforcement entity, or the United States Military; OR one (1) year full-time employment as a security guard with a state issued guard card within the last six (6) months.
Must be certified as a Security Officer in the state where the work is to be performed and maintain the certification.
Must be capable of lifting fifty (50) lbs.
Must be able to write detailed written reports and forms.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned
Ability to successfully complete all requiring training and certifications.
Ability to pass a Company and Federal Client background investigation.

Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.

Involved are patrolling an assigned area on foot or in a radio equipped vehicle and performing administrative, public information and/or complaint duties. Under general supervision of a sergeant or other police supervisor, the employee is required to exercise initiative and independent judgment as well as tact, courtesy and self-control in performance of duties. The employee is also expected to make decisions calmly and quickly in emergency or hazardous situations. Some positions may include training other police officers when assigned as a field instructor, or receiving in-service training in preparation for promotion or special assignment. When assigned as a field instructor in the districts: trains recruits in duties of police officers as assigned; evaluates and makes recommendations to squad sergeant regarding recruits' progress and suitability for work; accompanies recruits to court and gives advice relative to court presentation; reviews reports and recommends improvements if needed; insures that recruit is aware of any changes in laws, rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures; recommends end of training period when recruit is considered ready.
When assigned to the selective enforcement unit: participates in crowd and traffic control at major events; assists vice control section in investigation and enforcement activities; utilizes informants in latent investigations; participates in stakeouts and surveillance of burglary and robbery targets in high crime areas; conducts prostitution, gambling and other criminal investigations as required; performs business license application investigations; assists in processing special event permit applications; processes and investigates requests by alcoholic establishments to employ extra duty officers; works in conjunction with federal, state and other local agencies to coordinate joint police activities; protects political candidates and other dignitaries.
When assigned to marine patrol: enforces navigable water laws within the city limits; makes safety checks for required equipment on all vessels; maintains police boat and all equipment used; aids disabled vessels and passengers; patrols all boat races and sailing regattas.
When assigned to the information desk: assists the public by given general information; verifies ownership of impounded vehicles and gives authorization for release; checks impounded vehicles in the computer for stolen notices; maintains records, makes copies and distributes as necessary.
Performs work related to the purposes of the Department as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
* Sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college or university. Accredited college, university, or community college" means a college, university, or community college that has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, another regional accrediting agency, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, or an accrediting agency or association that is recognized by the database created and maintained by the United States Department of Education. The 60 credit hours will be waived for applicants with at least two years of prior sworn law enforcement or corrections experience, or two years of active military duty.
* Ability to successfully obtain a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Certification. Applicants certified in other States must meet compliance standards as enumerated in Florida Statute 943.13.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to understand the principles and practices of police work and to understand and enforce laws and ordinances
* Ability to analytically and objectively observe situations and to report and record them clearly and completely
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public
* Ability to meet the minimum standards for employment as a Police Officer established by Florida Statute 943.13 and meet background and personal history standards as established by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) 11B-27.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment: 15% inside a climate-controlled building and 85% outside, which includes driving. The essential functions of the job require sitting for approximately five (5) hours, standing for approximately four (4) hours, and walking for approximately three (3) hours during the course of a 12-hour shift. The job also requires frequent bending/stooping, grasping, reaching, and lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 15 pounds, with occasional fine manipulations, pulling/pushing, and repetitive motion. On rare occasions, the work requires climbing, crawling, running, kneeling, and lifting/carrying objects weighing 15 pounds or more.
Sensory Requirements: Hearing: Ability to hear alarm signals and radio transmissions, understand what others are saying in normal conversation, and detect specific noises or voices during group conversations. Speaking: Ability to communicate orally with others in person, via radio and telephone transmissions, and during formal presentations to groups. Seeing: Ability to operate a vehicle, read fine print and normal print, and observe numbers, license plates, and street signs at night.
Driving Requirements: Requires frequent driving and a valid Florida Driver's License.
Technology: The work requires the ability to operate telephones, smartphones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and laptop computers, calculators, video recording devices, and all associated software.
Tools: The work requires proficiency with standard police tools.

Responsibilities
Summary:
The Air Detention Officer serves as a part of a security crew providing charter aircraft services and is responsible for ensuring the general security and safety of all noncitizen and crew when on-board the aircraft. The security of all areas as required by the appropriate procedures and checklists mustbe always maintained.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Air Detention Officer loads and unloads noncitizen onto and off the aircraft (including those handicapped and/or requiring special assistance); searches noncitizen for contraband; feeds the noncitizen during flight; and escorts the noncitizen to the restroom.
Applies restraints and removes them as applicable.
Identifies proper documentation.
Searches the aircraft for contraband and assists in post flight cabin cleanup.

The Air Detention Officer takes charge of post by securing and protecting personnel and property until properly relieved.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a United States citizen residing in the U.S. and able to obtain visas and inoculations required to permit departure from and entry into the US and all scheduled destinations.
High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
Must posses an active, valid United States passport.
