Performs routine work involving the observation, security, and supervision of adult clients in a 24-hour correctional or residential facility. Direct Care Supervision
* Supervise and monitor the care and security of adult clients in a residential and work release facility;
* Monitor recreational and group activities.
* Perform routine searches of clients, their property, living quarters, and common areas.
* Review reports and other communications to maintain awareness of activities within the facility and its residents.
Client Management
* Investigates incidents, Initiate consequences when clients violate rules, prepares disciplinary reports, and ensure the application of violation responses
* Recognize positive behaviors and acknowledge with incentives.
* Assist in providing situational support for clients regarding their behavior to help them cope with program requirements.
* Provide crisis intervention or suicide prevention, application of approved emergency intervention, or restraint when appropriate
* Administer and document first aid to clients as needed.
Direct Care Monitoring
* Escort/transport clients to and from school, court, visitation, and other activities; engage as a liaison and other communication necessary to monitor activities of clients in the community.
* Inspect facility living areas to ensure doors, windows, and other areas are secure to prevent unauthorized departure and to promote facility security.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Transcript verifying education credits is required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver's license without restrictions. Pass a legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check, and pre-employment screenings. Must also meet the required conditions contained in KSA 65-516 and KAR 28-4-356(d), (1-5).

A Typical Workday May Include:
This is general law enforcement and firefighting work dedicated to the protection of life and/or property. Work performed involves an element of personal danger. Under the supervision of the Section Commander (Lieutenant) and/or designated supervisor, the police officer performs duties in the protection of life and property and the preservation of order in Andover. The employee in this position must accept the responsibility to support and promote this organization's mission and comply with its directives. The employee will be required to exercise initiative and discretion when faced with emergency conditions. This work involves an element of personal danger. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK
Enforces all federal, state and local laws, including citing and/or arresting law violators.
Patrols business districts and residential neighborhoods, and responding to calls for service, to deter and detect crime, protect individuals and/or property, and provide a quality law enforcement service.
Conducts traffic enforcement measures, including conducting vehicle stops, issuing citations/warnings, directing traffic as needed, and working motor vehicle accidents.

Documents criminal and non-criminal incidents through the preparation and submission of detailed written reports, and appear in court to provide testimony as a witness and/or arresting officer.
Responds to, intervenes, and investigates reports of crime, domestic disputes, suspicious activities, civil issues and animal complaints, as well as, conducting interviews of victims, witnesses and suspects.
When not responding to calls for service, this employee is expected to use time efficiently by self-initiating work on those tasks identified by supervisory personnel as priorities for this job position.
Provides advice on laws, ordinances, and general information to the public.
Must behave in a manner that supports the Police Officer's Code of Ethics and be accountable for the efficient and acceptable performance of his/her duties and responsibilities.
When assigned as a School Resource Officer (SRO), the officer will serve as a link between the Police Department and the School District, work with the school administration and staff; maintain peace in the schools and foster learning by creating a safe environment; act as an advisor to students, parents and faculty; provide education and guidance to students and faculty about the law, law enforcement and youth-related programs/issues; and perform security functions at school/community events as needed.

Job Summary
The primary function of this job is the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances, and the protection of life and property within the City of Hutchinson and surrounding area. Officers work under the direction of the Patrol Sergeant or other higher ranking officers. Duties normally consist of patrol and traffic activities in the city on an assigned shift. The Police Officer is responsible for protecting people and property. Job Summary
The primary function of this job is the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances, and the protection of life and property within the City of Hutchinson and surrounding area. • Accurately prepares and testifies in various criminal, civil and traffic court proceedings; Executes official
documents of the court serving arrest warrants, subpoenas, etc.; Performs court security functions as
assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED FOR SUCCESS:
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. A technical degree or some college credit is preferred. Must be able to graduate from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center and obtain 40 hours of continuing education annually
Experience: No previous law enforcement experience is required
License: A valid driver's license is required. Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
Must be at least 21 years old, be a United States citizen, and achieve satisfactory results on appropriate written, physical agility, psychiatric, medical, and background examinations
