During that time Insitu grew from 4 employees to 800+ employees and $450M in revenue. Insitu is a developer of miniature robotic airplanes or UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) for the military and civilian applications. During Sliwa’s tenure, Insitu maintained a 90% market share within its niche with customers and operations throughout the world. Michael joins Seeq from his consulting practice which provided guidance in marketing, segmentation, and channel strategies to big data and SAAS startups. Prior to that Risse was Vice President of Product Management at Stellr, Inc., a Seattle-based startup developing contextual search technology for the professional app ecosystem. In 2012, Risse was an Entrepreneur in Residence with Ignition Partners of Bellevue, Washington, where he worked with portfolio companies in the big data infrastructure and application spaces. Risse spent almost 20 years with the Microsoft Corporation where his last role was Vice President of the $13 billion dollar Worldwide Small and MidMarket (SMB) segment. He moved to the worldwide role from the United States subsidiary where he was Vice President of the MidMarket segment. From 1991 to 2002 Risse held a series of product management roles on successful Microsoft offerings: General Manager in the Server and Tools Business, Director of Marketing for Visual Studio, Lead Product Manager for Microsoft Office, and Product Manager for the Visual Basic programming system. Risse graduated with honors in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1987 and completed graduate work in international business. He lives in Seattle, Washington, with his wife Kathy and twin daughters and son, and spends as much time as he can on a bicycle, skies, or trail.
