Select Medical CEO and leadership

David S. Chernow has served as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer since January 2014. He served as the Company’s President since December 2010. He held the additional titles of Chief Administrative Officer from March 2012 to August 2013, Chief Development and Strategy Officer from January 2011 to March 2012, and Chief Strategy Officer from September 2010 to December 2010. He previously served on the Company’s Board of Directors from August 2005 to September 2010. From May 2007 to February 2010, Mr. Chernow served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Oncure Medical Corp., a national network of cancer treatment centers. From 2001 to 2007, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of JA Worldwide (formerly known as Junior Achievement). From 1999 to 2001, he was the President of the Physician Services Group at US Oncology, Inc. Mr. Chernow co-founded American Oncology Resources in 1992 and served as its Chief Development Officer until the time of the merger with Physician Reliance Network, Inc., which created US Oncology, Inc. in 1999.

Martin F. Jackson has served as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer for Select Medical since May 1999. Mr. Jackson previously served as a Managing Director of the Health Care Investment Banking Group for CIBC Oppenheimer from January 1997 to May 1999. Prior to that time, he served as Senior Vice President, Health Care Finance with McDonald & Company Securities, Inc. from January 1994 to January 1997. Prior to 1994, Mr. Jackson held senior financial positions with Van Kampen Merritt, Touche Ross, Honeywell and L’Nard Associates. Mr. Jackson serves on the Board of The Vista School, as well as several venture-backed companies.

Scott A. Romberger has served as Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer since February 2007. He joined Select Medical as Vice President and Controller in February 1997 and became Chief Accounting Officer in December 2000. Prior to February 1997, he was Vice President and Controller of Continental Medical Systems, Inc. from January 1991 to January 1997. He also served as Acting Corporate Controller and Assistant Controller from June 1990 and December 1988, respectively. Mr. Romberger is a certified public accountant and was employed by a national accounting firm from April 1985 until December 1988.

Samuel Hammerman is senior vice president and chief medical officer for Select Medical; in his current role, he oversees the company's division of 110 long-term acute care hospitals. He is also an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Temple University School of Medicine and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to joining Select Medical, Dr. Hammerman served as director of pulmonary and critical care medicine for Geisinger Health System. He has an extensive background in pulmonology and critical care. He has also led innovation initiatives focusing on patient-centered clinical care, operations, quality and safety, and education. A frequent lecturer and published author, Dr. Hammerman is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
