**What Is the Opportunity?**
Under general supervision, the position is responsible for investigating, evaluating, reserving, negotiating and resolving assigned Specialty Liability related Bodily Injury and Property Damage claims. Provides quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle (customer contacts, coverage, investigation, evaluation, reserving, litigation management, negotiation and resolution) including maintaining full compliance with internal and external quality standards and state specific regulations. Provides consulting and training resources, and serves as a contact and technical resource to the field and our business partners.
**What Will You Do?**
+ Directly handles assigned claims.
+ Provides quality customer service and ensures file quality and timely coverage analysis and communication with insured based on application of policy information to facts or allegations of each case.
+ Consults with Manager on use of Claim Coverage Counsel as needed.
+ Directly investigate each claim through prompt and strategically-appropriate contact with appropriate parties such as policyholders, accounts, claimants, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, agents, medical providers and technical experts to determine the extent of liability, damages, and contribution potential. Interview witnesses and stakeholders; take necessary statements, as strategically appropriate.
+ Actively engages in the identification, selection and direction of appropriate internal and/or external resources for specific activities required to effectively evaluate claims, such as Subrogation, Risk Control, nurse consultants, and fire or fraud investigators, and other experts.
+ Verifies the nature and extent of injury or property damage by obtaining and reviewing appropriate records and damages documentation.
+ Maintains claim files and documents claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
+ Utilizes evaluation documentation tools in accordance with department guidelines.
+ Proactively creates Claim File Analysis (CFA) by adhering to quality standards.
+ Utilizes diary management system to ensure that all claims are handled timely. At required time intervals, evaluate liability and damages exposure.
+ Establishes and maintains proper indemnity and expense reserves.
+ Recommends appropriate cases for discussion at roundtable.
+ Attends and/or presents at roundtables/ authority discussions for collaboration of technical expertise resulting in improved payout on indemnity and expense.
+ Actively and enthusiastically shares experience and knowledge of creative resolution techniques to improve the claim results of others.
+ Develops and employs creative resolution strategies.
+ Prompt and proper disposition of all claims within delegated authority.
+ Negotiates disposition of claims with insureds and claimants or their legal representatives.
+ Recognizes and implements alternate means of resolution.
+ Manages litigated claims. Develops litigation plan with staff or panel counsel, including discovery and legal expenses, to assure effective resolution and to satisfy customers.
+ Applies litigation management through the selection of counsel, evaluation and direction of claim and litigation strategy.
+ Tracks and controls legal expenses to assure cost-effective resolution.
+ Effectively and efficiently manage both allocated and unallocated loss adjustment expenses.
+ Attends depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials and all other legal proceedings, as needed.
+ Updates appropriate parties as needed, providing new facts as they become available, and their impact upon the liability analysis and settlement options.
+ Recognizes cases, based on severity/ complexity protocols that should be transferred to another level of claim professional and refers on a timely basis.
+ Appropriately deals with information that is considered personal and confidential.
+ Fulfills specific service commitments made to certain accounts, as outlined in Special.
+ Account Communication (SAC) instructions and inquiries from agents and brokers.
+ Represents the company as a technical resource; attends legal proceedings as needed, acts within established professional guidelines as well as applicable state laws.
+ Actively provides mentoring and coaching to less experienced claim professionals to increase the technical expertise and improve bench strength.
+ Shares accountability with business partners to achieve and sustain quality results.

Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
The Director, Actuarial & Analytics - Select WC Lead position provides actuarial support to Select business partners, primarily product management, underwriting, and leadership. Specific responsibilities include leading the review and communication of key actuarial analyses: rate adequacy, reserve reviews, performance measures, pricing/profitability reporting and plan. Other responsibilities include partnering to influence business strategies, support for pricing model enhancements and questions, business initiative impact analyses and post-monitoring, and ad-hoc analyses. This role is expected to drive efficiency in everyday processes and may provide fluid talent across the Small Commercial Actuarial team. This role may manage one direct report.
What Will You Do?
* Strategy:
* Assess, prioritize, influence and communicate strategic initiative options to senior leaders.
* Demonstrate effective execution and completion of assigned strategic initiatives and projects.
* Regularly generate process improvements and explore opportunities for innovation.
* Lead assigned unit strategic initiatives (narrow scope, limited and well defined) and cross-unit initiatives on a limited basis and is expected to participate in Enterprise initiatives on a limited basis.

* Independently perform actuarial and analytic analyses to solve business problems and apply judgment appropriately.
* Drive day to day execution within unit. Support broad department initiatives.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
* College degree in STEM related field.
* Associate Actuarial Credential.
* 7+ years of quantitative analysis experience.
* Strong understanding of insurance products and industry.
* Demonstrated ability in actuarial and quantitative analysis and statistical concepts.
* Management experience.
* Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to present and translate complex information in relevant business terms.
* Strong PC skills (MS Office) and programming skills (eg. SQL, SAS).

What Is the Opportunity?
Provide the Underwriter with account knowledge as it relates to hazards, controls, and management. They will need to evaluate how a company identifies and manages their inherent risk factors. Additionally they are expected to differentiate the account from others in similar classes of business. In this role the consultant will be working with our largest, most complex and all lines accounts. This role reports to the Risk Control Field Director or Managing Risk Control Consultant. This job does not manage others.
What Will You Do?
* Maintain a consistent field presence, spending approximately 20% - 50% of the time onsite with customers. Traveling to customers may entail long-distance, overnight travel, and/or multi-night trips depending on the needs of the business and alignment with territory and/or geography.
* Partner and have joint ownership with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business.
* Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting, Claim, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers to service customers as a unified team.
* Complete all lines risk assessment evaluations for multiple/diverse businesses with high complexity such as manufacturing, large warehouse operations including challenging property, products liability exposures with potential for the most severe losses, largest multi-location companies, and largest fleet exposures and generally business with the most significant exposures.
* Write technically detailed reports that communicate a clear assessment of risk and effectively articulate recommendations.
* Discover and evaluate customer needs through loss analysis and customer readiness in order to provide Risk Control products and services to help control losses.
* Identify uncontrolled exposures to influence the customer to make improvements and take corrective actions to mitigate the potential for loss.
* Provide solutions to assist the customer in risk mitigation through the use of our extensive span of resources. Stay current with technical subject matters, regulatory environment and emerging issues.
* Subject matter expert in specialty area(s) (in such disciplines as Fleet, Sprinkler Contractor, Inland Marine, Industrial Hygiene, Human Factors & Ergonomics) to support the broader team to conduct "Level of Expertise" consults.
* Stay current with technical subject matters, regulatory environment and emerging issues.
* Create a valued customer experience through each assessment and service encounter.
* Ability to maintain core Sr. RCC responsibilities while taking on higher level project work that impacts the RC organization or Travelers enterprise.

Contribute to the achievement of the Excess Casualty segment business plan.
