Seminole County FL history
Seminole County FL company history timeline
Seminole County was officially formed in 1913, but it has a long and colorful history that goes back many decades prior.
In 1965 this building was converted into offices for the County Agricultural and the Home Demonstration Agent.
Central Florida began to cement itself as a major tourist destination with the opening of Walt Disney World in 1971, followed by SeaWorld two years later.
In 1982 the County Commission approved the establishment of a Historical Museum in the former Old Folks Home.
The formal opening was in November 1983.
Universal Orlando came along in 1990.
The Seminole County School Board turned the building over to the City of Sanford in 1995.
In 1998, the City donated it to the Tajiri School for Performing Arts and Academics, founded by Patricia Merritt-Whatley.
