Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the monthly clinical trial and outside laboratory accrual process and all forecasting related to these expenditures. The incumbent will have strong accounting expertise, a deep understanding of clinical trial operations and thrive in a dynamic, late phase pre-commercial biotech environment. The Accounting Manager will also assist with the month-end financial closing process, account reconciliations, and audit requests as needed. NOTE: This is a remote role based in the US. Support documentation and analysis needs for financial audits, board reporting, and due diligence processes. Contribute to SEC reporting (e.g., 10-Q, 10-K) as needed Vendor and Contract oversight Monitor spend against vendor contracts and manage the financial aspect of change orders and amendments. Ensure all financial terms in MSAs and Work Orders are appropriately captured in accrual and forecasting models. Coordinate with Accounts Payable to reconcile invoices and ensure payments align with contract terms and completed milestones. Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial experience and 2+ years supporting clinical trial finance in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO setting. Proven experience working with late-phase, pre-commercial (e.g. 2b, 3) clinical trials and managing financial implications of multiple concurrent studies. The Senior Accountant will have direct interaction with the leadership team at all levels of the organization. In this position you will have the opportunity to: Lead the month end financial close for Business Unit(s) Prepare journal entries and complete month end close tasks Complete monthly account reconciliations timely and accurately Generate, analyze, review and communicate financial data actual, prior and budget. Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to help predict future revenue and expenses. Assist with budgeting and planning consolidation annually. Support the consolidation and reporting for our global organization. Participate in and/or lead ad hoc projects. Assist, train and mentor other accounting staff Maintains and coordinates implementation of accounting and control procedures Records and corrects billing, inventory, costing, and other accounting discrepancies Assists in capital asset tracking and ensuring compliance with capital asset internal controls Assists with special projects as assigned Perform other duties as assigned by manager Requirements: Education and Experience Bachelor's degree is required with focus on Accounting and/or Finance Advanced financial degrees/designations (CPA, CFA, MBA) are also preferred but not required 5+ years' experience in roles/experience including, but not limited to: accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial auditor, SOX compliance, fixed assets management, including maintenance, budgeting, forecasting & reporting, capitalizing assets in accordance with policy, maintain cashbook and perform daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits and posting of cash to accounts payable ledger, daily cashflow reporting, month end accruals, prepayments & journals, balance sheet reconciliations, management and administration of the chart of accounts & ledger. OBJECTIVE: Performs complex and technical accounting and financial analysis to provide farmers with accurate and timely financial and statistical information for decision making purposes contributing to the farms' goals and objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned) Performs detailed financial and statistical reports and analysis as requested by business unit leads or executives. Information is used by individuals to analyze operational activities of the Companies. Assists in the implementation and review of accounting procedures and systems and helps administer existing systems. Makes recommendations to the Director of FarmBooks for improved procedures and systems. Maintains expertise in the Company's financial accounting software and assists other employees in the use of the software and solves processing problems for operational employees. Performs reconciliation of accounts associated with the general ledger and sub-modules. Is responsible for resolving any reconciliation issues and is responsible for recommending changes to processes and procedures to the Director of FarmBooks so future issues do not arise. Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, cash flow analysis, and other monthly reports required in the Financial Reports Package sent to the owners of each farm. Assists in the timely preparation of information for any annual attest engagements and regulatory tax requirements. This includes analysis of account and preparation of required disclosures in attest engagements. Prepares database query reports for financial research and analysis as requested by business unit leads for operational analysis. Analyzes overhead, payroll and cost accounting allocations between business unit leads and make recommendations for changes to the business unit lead. Assists in tracking of all debt related transactions. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. Significant experience supplemented by specialized courses may be an acceptable substitute for completion of a bachelor's degree. Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in finance and accounting field, including account analysis, preparation of financial statements and related disclosures, and knowledge of complex accounting transactions.
