While reporting to the Administrative Manager, this role is responsible for all administrative plant functions with a focus on operational support and inventory management. The ideal candidate should have a solid financial and accounting foundation, strong communication and organizational skills, and exposure to a large-scale ERP (Oracle preferred). What you will be doing
Actively engages in plant safety leadership Accurate and timely entry of production into Access database; maintenance and investigation as needed Lead all aspects of inventory management, including coordination and execution of plant physical counts, cycle counts, and issue research and resolution Participate in plant closing activities such as reporting, journals, and ad-hoc analytics Act as subject matter expert in Oracle, Access, and MyShopFloor; training and support of plant personnel as needed Key member of plant Supply Chain team Train on and act as primary backup for Production Planner roles, both planning and scheduling Other responsibilities include office supply management, front office organization, receptionist duties, and miscellaneous tasks as needed

This position is located at our Presidents Island facility in Memphis, TN. PI is one of the largest manufacturing facilities at Sonoco and is a 24/7 manufacturer of metal closures for the snack, powdered beverage, powdered infant formula, and caulk segments. A Day in the Life of an ABCO Accountant

The Senior Accounting Specialist will process daily, monthly, quarterly, and periodic general ledger account reconciliation. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable and receivable, processing of payments including ACH, EFT, and wire transfers. Assist with loan portfolio analytics and budget management and tracking. Post investment interest payments. Reconcile MoneyGram and money order accounts. Collaborate with back-office personnel to process corporate payroll and other accounting related tasks. These accounting duties require a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and exceptional time management skills.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma: GED required.
  • Accounting certificate and or accounting degree required.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and GL structures, ACH/EFT processing, and strong research skills.
  • Experience in a credit union or financial service institution preferred.
  • Superior mathematical skills
  • Computer literate with intermediate-expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively complete multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to pass a consumer, employment, and criminal background check.

Work Schedule

This position will be scheduled 35 to 40 hours per week.

Accounting Department hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; when necessary

This role combines both NPI and PD responsibilities providing the candidate with both the ability to apply their excellent technical accounting and analytical skills as well as the opportunity to work across numerous partners to drive the implementation of new accounting standards from start to finish.
Key responsibilities encouraged:
