Business Systems Analyst Location: Wichita, KS Reports to: Business Systems Manager FLSA Status: Salary Exempt Scope: (core functions) The Business Systems Analyst's primary function is to facilitate proper and productive use of IT systems within the Business Unit (BU) for the purpose of reducing overhead and lowering cost. In this role, the BA will work with key members of the BU and IT staff to identify business processes that can potentially be improved through the application of technology. The BA will report to the Business Systems Manager and work with company technology experts to identify the best path for acquiring and implementing the agreed upon technology. The BA will work directly with an Application Developer (AD) to define specific programming requirements or data manipulation requirements that are necessary to support any given project. It is expected that the BA will have technical competency in all the defined skill sets, but the primary objective is to work with functional project leaders to facilitate the development of business process experts that will thoroughly understand the applied technology so that the company will continue to make gains in that business element following completion of the project. Essential Functions: Define the best technology to use for the stated goal. Develop the most efficient process for applying the technology. Define the parameters for any custom software development that is required. Assist with documenting the agreed upon process. Assist with training end users to utilize the process. Troubleshoot errors and correct data, programs, and processes as necessary to insure successful operation of the business. Participate as a key member of the BU IT steering committee to assist with identifying strategic IT projects for the BU. Assist with recommendations to the steering committee regarding existing or potential technologies that will help with achieving goals. Partner with company technology experts to identify the best path for acquiring and implementing the agreed upon technology. Partner with an Application Developer (AD) to define specific programming requirements or data manipulation requirements that are necessary to support any given project. Assist the functional team and team leader with developing a project implementation plan and coordinating resources between the BU, IT, and training or consulting vendors. Identify and educate key BU stakeholders regarding the roles and responsibilities for a successful technology implementation, help to coordinate activities of project participants, participate in regular project meetings, update stakeholders with project status, and communicate issues that might prevent a successful project implementation to BU and IT management. During the course of any project implementation, the BA may perform software evaluation, business process development, case testing, training, data migration, or software development as necessary to support the defined projects. Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION: 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Engineering or other related field, required. Master's Degree, preferred. EXPERIENCE: 7 - 10 years proven experience in requirements elicitation and management, required. Vantage 8/Epicor 9 ERP implementation and/or development (ICE, Customizations, Service Connect, SDK/API, BPM's Report) experience, required. SDLC/technical project management experience, required. .net Web Application (C#/VB) development, required.     The Opportunity The Wichita Beacon is seeking a seasoned journalist to lead its newsroom as the Editor/Senior Reporter, based in the Wichita area. You will manage a newsroom of three reporters (we have plans to grow more) with responsibility for the steady production of in-depth news stories designed to give the community the information it needs to understand its challenges and assess possible solutions to public policy. The position oversees daily editorial functions of the newsroom. That includes guiding reporters and self-directing your own reporting (the role may shift as the Wichita newsroom grows). This position reports to the editor-in-chief based in Kansas City, who sets a broader strategy for the newsroom. This position also supervises The Wichita Beacon's community engagement manager to best identify the stories the Beacon invests its time in. You'll have the chance to report as much or as little as you like. How much time you spend as a reporter will depend on your ability to help the reporters regularly file stories. We only very rarely cover breaking or daily news. Instead, we focus on in-depth stories. We need about two of those a week (perhaps more as we grow) from the Wichita newsroom. So if those reporters are filing regularly enough, any pressure for the Editor/Senior Reporter to write stories will wane. But you'll retain the ability to pursue stories on your own or with our other reporters regardless. You'll also be our liaison to the Wichita Journalism Collaborative, a collection of news outlets that include The Wichita Eagle, the local NPR affiliate and several other organizations. In that role, you'll look to collaborate on stories with other outlets, to identify stories they produce that we should publish and pitch our independent work to them.     Job Information Technology Schedule Full-time Job is only avaialble in the above locations There may be a hiring bonus which may be used for relocation expenses There is no remote/virtual work scenario Job Title Intermediate/Senior/Lead Business Systems Analyst Responsibilities: General Provide leadership to project teams to lead external vendors on projects Provide organizational leadership to project team members Act as the technical leader for requirements, facilitating requirements and ensuring a quality on time delivery to the business customer Intermediate BA: Under minimal supervision, facilitate the business analysis process to identify business requirements for system solutions or improved processes that will increase efficiency and overall productivity. Work cohesively with developers, business units, external vendors, and other test team members. Responsible for the coordination of test planning for various types of projects. Works on project teams that are developing or modifying moderately complex information systems. Includes analysis and documentation of business and system requirement and coordinating testing. Analyzes business unit requests and understands business requirements, works with various technical staff members to determine possible solutions and communicate business and system impacts to IT and Operations staff. Responsible for all artifacts and tasks produced in the Requirements and Testing disciplines of the Rational Unified Process (RUP), including Stakeholder Requests, current and future state models, Use Cases, Business Rules, User Interface requirements, Mapping documents, Supplementary Specifications and associated diagrams also includes Test Plans and test cases. Senior / Lead BA: Provides leadership to project teams and external vendors and works with the business to facilitate on time delivery of projects Provide mentoring to fellow team members in all areas including vendor management, artifact management, and all related tools. Lead the business analysis and testing processes and collaborate with project teams and external vendors in the delivery of software solutions for TCM Technology Services and our trading partners. Translate stakeholder needs into system requirements. Works closely with and provides leadership to other project team members and vendors that are developing or modifying complex information systems. Maintains positive working relationships between Annuity Services, Technology Services and our Trading Partners. Facilitates the elicitation and documentation of business and functional requirements and Testing disciplines of the Rational Unified Process (RUP), including Stakeholder requests, current and future state models, Use Cases, Business Rules, User Interface requirements, Mapping documents, Supplementary Specifications and associated diagrams; also includes Test Plans and test cases. Qualifications: General Experience leading structured projects in a complex technical environment Proven ability to lead external vendors Ability to provide, receive, and act on critical feedback Proven ability to work within a structured team environment and assist with successful delivery of projects Intermediate BSA: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience, preferably in IT or a business area discipline. Minimum of 2-4 years experience in business analysis. 2-4 years of industry experience preferred. Senior BA: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience, preferably in IT or a business area discipline (i.e. accounting, investments, or marketing). Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in business systems analysis. 2-4 years of industry experience also preferred. Two years of experience managing technical projects in a complex environment. Lead BA: Bachelor's degree, preferably in IT or a business area discipline (i.e. accounting, investments, or marketing) or equivalent education/experience. Minimum of 8 or more years of experience in business systems analysis. 2-4 years of industry experience also preferred. Two years of experience managing technical projects in a complex environment.
