Job DescriptionDescription Branch was founded with a mission to restore insurance back to its original intent - a force for communal good. To that end, we’re hard at work revolutionizing Home and Auto insurance, making it simpler to buy and actually built to save people money.

As a Senior Claims Specialist at Branch, you’ll be assisting Branch members in their time of greatest need. When an auto claim is reported, you’ll be the face and voice of Branch to our member, ensuring they feel comfortable and have clear expectations about the claims process.

We’re building a technology-first and data-driven claims experience to enhance client experience while eliminating traditional claims inefficiencies. We are in need of an experienced claims professional to investigate and resolve auto claims of varying complexity. The ideal candidate will be a member-focused “do-er”. They should not be afraid to roll their sleeves up to ensure we’re achieving industry best outcomes all while making sure we’re delivering on our promise to the Branch members.

Branch is remote native, so this position may be located anywhere in the U.S. (although Ohio and Arizona are strongly preferred) with occasional travel to Columbus, OH (HQ).

Please note: This role requires working either Tuesday - Saturday or Sunday - Thursday, and will include a 5% shift differential.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate and resolve auto claims of varying severity and complexity from beginning to end as quickly as possible. Detailed documentation of claims. Interview all relevant parties to determine coverage and liability. Review and make decision on auto estimates completed by third parties. Willing to go above and beyond to deliver an industry-leading member experience. Provide technical advice and mentorship to lower-level roles and other functional areas. Proactively keep all relevant parties apprised of claim status. Attend depositions, mediations, trials and other legal proceedings. Travel when required, including overnight. Ability to work non-traditional work hours. Resolve all claims in accordance with state guidelines. May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Five (5) more years of auto claims experience including liability investigations and bodily injury evaluation and settlement. Active adjuster license required or ability to obtain license within 90 days of employment in mandated states. Experience handling claims in multiple states is preferred. Broad knowledge of auto coverage and endorsements. Proficient using the Microsoft Office suite of programs with an emphasis on Word and Excel. Ability to travel when needed, including CAT deployment. Insurance designation (AIC, SCLA, CPCU, etc.) is a plus. Adjuster license and experience handling claims in multiple states is preferred. Creative, out of the box thinker who has a passion for helping others. Experience with resolving litigated claims including directing outside panel counsel is preferred. Ability to “Call the Play” with imperfect information. Some experience in auto estimating is a plus. Experience working remotely is preferred.

Our client is seeking to add a Sr. Commercial Trucking Claims Specialist to their operations. This person would be responsible for handling moderate to complex Commercial Trucking claims including Bodily Injury, Non-Trucking Use, and Litigation losses throughout the United States. Responsibilities of this position include investigating claims through telephone, written correspondence, and/or personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses and others having pertinent information. This person would have the ability to work remotely and possess multiple adjuster licenses!

Review and analyze coverage, including applicable endorsements and exclusions to determine if any coverage issues exist. Report all potential coverage issues.

Draft reservation of rights letters, coverage disclaimer letters, and tender letters for review and approval by the carrier.

Obtain the bill of lading to review operating authority and policy endorsements to determine whether the insured’s policy or the Motor Carrier’s policy will apply as primary.

Work proactively towards claims resolution with defense counsel and clients, while adhering to audit requirements and resolving claims in a timely manner.

Make timely claims payments and adjustments; communicate claim action/processing with claimant and client.
Ensure claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct. Provide comprehensive, complete thorough analysis of coverage determination. Prepare detailed reports, review and prepare responsive correspondence to achieve settlement.


Requirements:
5 - 10+ years of Commercial Trucking claims experience. Experience handling General Liability claims is preferred. Must hold an active adjuster’s license. Must have experience drafting coverage position letters. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the capability to write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees and handle litigations and negotiations.

- Prepare case documents for security and law enforcement agencies.
