As a Senior Collections Specialist you will develop strong working relationships with assigned Partners in order to provide best in class customer service support for all related client collection needs. Assists in credit and collections activities to ensure monies owed to the firm are received in a timely manner while maintaining positive relationships with the firm's internal and external clients. Ability to keep up with a fast paced environment with keen insight in prioritizing in order to achieve firm collections targets and goals.
What you'll do:
Assist in managing day-to-day collections operations for assigned partners.Identify problems or issues in processes and implement solutions bringing bottom line results.Interface with varying levels of management, clients and staff.Must be resourceful in developing alternative solutions and meeting deadlines in a real time, fast paced environment.Interact and support billing attorneys and partners to review the status of unpaid bills.Direct contact with clients regarding past-due accounts and invoices as requested by the respective billing attorney.Monitor payment arrangements to ensure compliance with payment terms.Partners with billing representative to ensure appropriate collections follow-up.Generate and distribute monthly Client Reminder Statements to ensure that the statements are sent to clients in a timely manner.Research and monitor unapplied payments; responsible for processing client refunds when applicable.Promptly responds to client inquiries regarding past due balances.Assists with providing back-up for client audit letter responses as necessary Conduct credit review analyses on clients as needed.Prepare reports and analysis on the status of credit and collection matters; provide regular updates to management on these matters.Assume additional responsibilities as necessary.

Who you are:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work with all levels of personnel within the Firm, including Business Unit Leaders, Directors and Chiefs.Strong writing skills necessary.Ability to provide high level of customer service in a fast paced environment.Ability to handle a high volume of tasks maintaining attention to detail and prioritizing as necessary.Proficiency in MS Office. The Senior Collection Specialist will join Avalara's Finance department as a member of the Collections Team. This role is responsible for managing a revolving caseload of 150-200 Enterprise and Partner accounts. This position has a high degree of daily contact with customers, account executives, and managers via email and telephone. Responsible for suspension/cancellation of past due accounts and handling the highest number of escalated collection cases on the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs collection calls and emails on delinquent accounts utilizing Sales Force cases and activity tracking domestically and internationally.
  • Develop positive working relationships and provides excellent customer service to external and internal customers
  • Escalates queries to sales to resolve disputed items on the customer ledger to ensure prompt payment
  • Maintains accurate documentation of customer contact and collection activity, including customer responses, on each account within Sales Force cases
  • Responsible for bringing account and customer concerns to the Senior Manager, Collections for prompt resolution
  • Confirms account information internally prior to initiating suspension/cancellation and 3rd party placement
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 4+ years' experience working with corporate collection portfolios

**Work Schedule:**

Work schedules will vary and will be discussed during the interview process. Candidates must be willing to work schedules during our operating hours, which include evenings and weekends. Specific information will be provided by the Recruiter and or during the hiring process.

This position requires that you attend the training as scheduled. The training will be conducted In Person onsite and the hours will be M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM EST. Once training is complete the employee will go back to their regular schedule.
