The Lincoln Journal Star is seeking an enterprising reporter to cover city government in Nebraska's capital city. The city hall beat is one of our most challenging and exciting beats. We're looking for a reporter who will dig deeper than meeting coverage and cultivate sources to stay ahead of developing stories. The reporter who covers it must be prepared to tackle a range of subjects including the city's finances and budgeting; the politics associated with a strong mayor-council form of government and their interaction with other elected officials and civic leaders; and city and county departments covering everything from urban development, parks and libraries to human services, community corrections and animal control.

Essential Functions
