As a Sr. Principal Insights Analyst on VALORANT, you'll join the Insights discipline - the group of researchers, analysts, data scientists, and strategists responsible for solving problems and executing analyses that enable Rioters to make difficult decisions with confidence. You'll leverage industry-leading expertise in game analytics to deeply understand the VALORANT audience, game, and ecosystem.
This role focuses on answering some of our hardest questions on VALORANT as well as playing an integral part in mentoring and growing the next generation of analytics leaders across Riot. You will set the bar for analytics excellence at Riot through your industry-leading caliber deliverables, setting the standard for best practices, and unlocking new skill sets for future analysts. The Insights team supports products through their entire lifecycle: from opportunity identification, product development, and post launch performance. You will operate as part of the VAL Insights team, reporting to the Insights Lead, and frequently provide findings and push recommendations forward to designers and leadership across the product.
Responsibilities:
Tackle the most complex & impactful game analytics problems across VALORANT studio including cross-game analytics, product health deep dives, and highly specialized design analytics questions
Lead projects across analytics and research to help answer critical product questions
Engage with senior leadership to highlight player needs and drive product change through your work
Partner with product leaders to prioritize their efforts - accounting for delivery timelines, revenue impacts, and opportunity costs
Communicate strategic recommendations and product outcomes to business leaders and decision makers
Work collaboratively with a cross functional team of designers, product managers, and engineers
Raise the analytics craft bar across Riot by mentoring senior analytics talent
Lead analytics discipline initiatives (e.g. tooling improvements, setting best practices for novel analytics methods) to continually improve the foundation of the analytics discipline at Riot
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline plus at least 10 years of relevant experience (an advanced degree can account for up to 2 years of experience)
3+ years experience working directly in analytics on games
Strong analytical skills across the entire stack (Tableau, SQL, Python/Pyspark)
Meaningful familiarity with game design/direction and product strategy
Experience conducting analytics to answer product or portfolio strategy questions
Experience synthesizing & socializing analytics results and distilling results into impactful recommendations for product leadership
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the strong ability to collaborate effectively at all levels and departments of the organization.
Able to work independently and lead complex projects which require coordinating multi-party worksteams
Ability to own and drive workstreams collaboratively with cross functional partners across game design, engineering, and product
Strong communication and presentation skills with senior stakeholders
