The Senior CAD Designer (Storage Tanks) is responsible for generating detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) for API, ASME, and UL-rated storage tanks. Job Function:
Essential Functions:
Develop detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings for atmospheric and pressure-rated storage tanks.
Generate precise Bills of Materials, including weld fittings, nozzles, manways, and structural components.
Interpret and apply API 650/620/653, ASME Section VIII, UL-142, and UL-2085 standards in tank design.
Utilize AWS D1.1 and related codes for welding details, symbols, and joint specifications.
Revise drawings as needed to reflect internal review feedback, customer revisions, and contract changes.
Collaborate with fabricators to resolve manufacturing queries and support production needs.
Update drawings per as-built markups and maintain version control.
Produce and organize drawing packages in PDF format for release.
Simultaneously manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
Visit the shop floor or fabrication yard to verify field fit-ups and gather design data when necessary.
Respond promptly to production or QA issues related to design or documentation.
Additional Duties:
Support the development of standard templates and design libraries for recurring tank types.
Assist with implementation and maintenance of iLogic design rules to streamline future model generation.

* Monitor and log job production status several times a week through various applications. i.e., builder portals, emails, phone & text. Not all builders use their portals.
* Gather documents needed through various applications to prepare measure packs to send to the field. (Selection sheets, color sheets, option sheets, cabinet details, floorplans & elevations, PO, price quotes, etc.)
* Review documents for accuracy and missing information related to builder specific cabinet line-ups, hardware finish availability/specs, countertops, appliances, option & custom design, and PO pricing - Communication with designers, purchasing departments, builders, and salesman if there are any issues or discrepancies. Follow-ups and documentation needed for any changes.
* Prepare measure packs - Create lot specific cabinet designs based off builder selections, options, and customization to ensure field personnel has all information needed to perform an accurate measure; providing lot specific floorplans, cabinet selections, vent centers, apron sinks, built out fridge, stacked cabinets, crown, bump ups, island wraps, utility sinks w/out cabinet, island change, etc.
* Email the complete measure pack to our field personnel pointing out the measure date, builder contact, options, vent center location and any other important information needed.
* Follow up with field personnel and builder if measures aren't received back in a timely manner to ensure we stay on track with the builder timelines.
Begin the order process once a measure is received.
* Review documents via builder portals and emails to ensure no changes have been made since the measure pack was created and sent out. Obtain documentation, make any changes needed, communicate any paperwork/selection issues.
* Review measure sheets. Communicate any issues with the builder (framing, plumbing, vent locations, return walls, etc.). Communicate any return trips needed to our field personnel.
* Make 2020/cabinet layout adjustments needed based off measure sheets and correspondence from builder.
* Ensure cabinet layouts and elevations have necessary notes. Provide details and diagrams for cabinet installation. i.e., appliance cutouts, diagrams, wine fridge specs, bump out notes, custom design notes, etc.
* Create cabinet order material list(s). Ensure accuracy for cabinet selections, quantities and sizes needed for crown, stacked cabinets, décor doors, paneling, toe kick, shoe, scribe, and any other cabinet materials needed.
* Create cover sheet including accuracy for cabinet, countertop and hardware selections, quantities and any plywood/cleats/studs needed for various cabinet designs for a complete cabinet installation. Additional information and materials needed for chase boxes and wood hoods.
* Obtain and provide an accurate delivery and installation date from builder and ensure dates are met to the best of our ability.
* Create job specific installation pay sheet.
* Combine all documents needed to create and submit a complete cabinet order.
* Create installation packs to include all cabinet layout(s), top layout(s), elevation(s), diagrams, and builder specific installation checklists.
* Submit order to Share drive and log order status.
* Review and approve order once received (from Lani). Inform them of any discrepancies or changes that need to be made.
* Ensure all job documents are uploaded to the Share Drive in their appropriate files.
* Key in installation figures to Cabinet Trac order file and add installation pack documents.
* Own job through completion of cabinet installation. Add on and builder changes after initial installation.

Responsibilities
As a Designer, your day is a dynamic blend of creative problem-solving and technical precision, where you bring designs to life using AutoCAD and Plant 3D.
Creative Design & Drafting Excellence: Create and/or modify detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Plant 3D. Understand AutoCAD national standards. Display high attention to detail and perform peer checks for other designers
Client Collaboration & Site Engagement: Perform walkdowns at client sites and generate walkdown reports. Work directly with Engineering and other designers for design concept interpretation and coordination
Quality Assurance & Leadership Impact: Conduct self-checks of created models, drawings, sketches, and related data to proactively identify factors that may negatively affect final product. May review the work of other designers/drafters and provide mentoring and leadership. Communicate internally with engineers and designers and maintain high level of organization
Safety and Standards Adherence: Understand and follow all organizational, area/departmental, and client procedures, safety policies, and directives
Time Management & Efficiency: Meet applied time goals set for position/discipline

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field with a minimum of 3 years of design experience
OR Associate's Degree in related field with minimum 6 years of design experience
OR minimum of 10 years of experience as a designer
Proficient with both 2D and 3D design software
AutoCAD and Smart Plant experience is required
Preferred experience with Plant 3D, or Revit
Working knowledge of basic engineering techniques, principals, standards, and concepts for assigned engineering discipline; competent in the basic concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of Electrical Design codes, standards, criteria, and design execution pertinent to various aspects of design
Ability to travel between 10-15% of the time; duration of travel may vary depending on project and client needs

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Advanced professional and technical work in the field of Civil Engineering. The position involves the preparation and/or review of plans, designs and specifications for public works projects. Area of practice will be specialized in water resources and hydrology. Assists in project development, permitting, design, and funding applications for various drainage related projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following statements describe the principal functions of the job and its scope of responsibility but should not be considered an all-inclusive list of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned.
• Evaluates areas of need related to drainage and other infrastructure.
• Performs design of drainage systems in accordance with established specifications and standards.
• Develops stormwater models and assist with the development of a County wide stormwater assets inventory.
• Prepares contract specifications for drainage public works projects.
• Coordinates with designers and draft persons in preparing plans.
• Prepares applications for and secures environmental and water management districts permits.
• Attends meetings and conferences with regulatory agencies to discuss projects and formulate recommendations on design decisions and other related matters.
• Conducts construction site visits, performs inspections, and resolves construction-related problems with contractors on drainage public works projects.
• Coordinates with survey crew for needed information and stakeouts on drainage construction projects, and assists in the field as needed.
• Maintains a professional and safe unit and work area adhering to established safety policies and the image desired for the organization.
• Consistently follows Board policies and procedures.
• Responds productively to change and performs all other related tasks as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Considerable knowledge of principals and practices of Civil Engineering, specifically in the areas of drainage/water resources and hydrology.
• Knowledge of water computer models (ICPR Versions 4) and water management district regulations and procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic drawing software (AutoCAD). Ability to plan, design, coordinate and inspect public works projects.
• Knowledge of mapping software such as GIS (ESRI ArcMap) and other mapping programs.
• Ability to prepare written technical reports, estimates, construction and other cost records.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with state and federal agencies and the general public.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, supervisors, directors, elected officials, vendors, and the general public.
PHYSICAL SKILLS:
The person in this position: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time. Must be able to frequently position self to reach files and other office items located on low shelves or the floor. Must be able to inspect and assess daily email and postal mail correspondence. Frequently communicates with the public, vendors, co-workers, managers, directors, Administration, and the Board of County Commissioners. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Frequently operates various types of office equipment to include, but not limited to a computer and copy machine. Occasionally ascends/descends stairs. Rarely moves materials and office equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. Constantly works in indoor and outdoor environments. Rarely works in inclement outdoor weather conditions. Rarely operates motor vehicle for up to four (4) hours continuously or intermittently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering and a minimum of three (3) years experience in Public Works Engineering. Experience in water resources and hydrology preferred. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:Ability to obtain a Florida professional engineers license within three years after hire date. Must possess and maintain valid Florida Driver's license.
