Responsibilities
Technical Expertise
Interpret flow diagrams, design packs, and conceptual designs to prepare engineering drawings.
Modify and update drawings to suit client, engineer, and internal team requirements.
Manage drawing integration and interface with multi-discipline design teams.
Apply working knowledge of Autodesk software (including 3D) and VAULT workflows.
Adhere to drawing office standards and procedures.
Maintain awareness of safety in design and applicable design codes and standards.
Operational Management
Deliver drawings within project schedules and allocated man-hour budgets.
Ensure high-quality, self-checked deliverables with minimal errors.
Follow internal QA/QC and document control procedures, including use of BIM-DOCS for coordination.
Communication & Collaboration
Interpret and action direction from Design Office Leads.

About this Role
A Designer at HBK Engineering is a position responsible for designing engineering systems for overhead and subsurface utility projects with increased independence and leadership responsibilities. The Junior UI Designer will work closely with an existing team of high performing UX Designers, User Experience Researchers, and UI Designers to create the user experience for the core journeys and products of AmericanExpress.com. You will partner closely with functional leads in a fast moving, agile team. As a Jr. UI Designer you will be hands on in all aspects of the interface design including: gathering and understanding business & user needs, visual design research, competitive analysis, storyboard development, developing and detailing mood boards, user interface research and design, asset production, poster design, high/low fidelity prototypes and a wide range of strategic UI deliverables that drive core concepts to generate best in digital interactive experiences. Responsibilities include:
• Transform ideas, business opportunities, research and creative vision into tangible assets that provide clear, usable, useful and desirable outcomes for users
• Create UI comps, pattern sets, details and assets for usability testing and live production environments, develop high / low fidelity prototypes, story boards and a wide range of UI assets and deliverables
• Work closely with team leads to drive best digital experiences through all phases of product development, ship, and iterate
• Effectively act on partner feedback integrating user testing results and learning's to improve the creative production process and ultimately our products and services

Qualifications
• 0-3 years UI / Interaction experience designing consumer facing applications, websites and mobile experiences
• Ability to simplify and turn complex interactions into intuitive user experiences
• Exceptional skills in ideation, sketching, concepting, brainstorming, and UI asset production
• Ability to create both low fidelity usable prototypes
• Fluency with design tools, most notably Photoshop, InDesign, Ilustrator, OmniGraffle, Invision and/or other prototyping software
• Introductory knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Introductory knowledge and/or experience working in agile product development
• Introductory knowledge and/or experience designing responsively across devices

Proficiency in Revit and Rhino required; experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office encouraged
Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
LEED accreditation is preferred
Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; portfolios should include at least one project with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification
