As a Senior Professional ElectricalEngineer, you will:
With general direction, create basic to highly complex designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems.
Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security, and other similar calculations.
Develop white papers and technical documentation to support the firm's technical knowledge Management (TKM).
Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary.
Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge management TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices. Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
Perform other duties as required.
Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.

The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the NA Regional Manager - Property Risk Engineering, this role provides Property Risk Engineering and Earthquake expertise and support to Allianz Commercial and its customers, to assist Allianz Commercial Underwriting in risk selection and retention of accounts as well as provide expertise in the area of earthquake related risks. Responsibilities include both Field Engineering (on-site/location level risk evaluation) and Account Engineering (account level/desktop review) risk assessment job activities, such as providing ongoing co-ordination and monitoring of the loss control activity / servicing of assigned accounts, within a geographic region or area of technical expertise. This is a client-facing role, and the successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain collaborative and professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including underwriting teams, peer experts, brokers, clients, marketing and distribution teams, claims departments, and colleagues across the globe. Additionally, maintaining and enhancing technical skills and expertise in their specific field or specialty is crucial to effectively support the business. The role also requires the ability to creatively apply risk engineering knowledge and technologies like data analysis, modeling, and AI to solve problems. Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
* Independently support large corporate clients or clients with complex business occupancies and structures. The M&E Project Engineer serves as liaison between the Client, the M&E Project Manager, and Subcontractors to make sure a construction project proceeds safely, accurately and smoothly. The M&E Project Engineer has a delegated responsibility for those elements of a construction project that bring it from plans to close out. Elements include, but are not limited to document control, submittal management, RFI management, procurement, change order management, contracts administration, issue resolution, safety auditing, and support of field coordination.

Responsibilities
A detailed understanding of contract documents (drawings and specifications), phasing plans, M&E systems interrelationships, construction sequencing and project schedule.
Facilitate problem solving, as may arise, between M&E Subcontractors during construction.
Assist in validating design issues related to M&E systems and work with the team to find alternative solutions.
Log and post all M&E changes and as-built information on field drawings.
Assist in the scope review, budgeting, and justification of M&E change work order.
Direct, monitor and control the activities of M&E Subcontractor.

Ensure that M&E Subcontractors provide and adhere to relevant Quality documentation/records.

Assist in the testing and commissioning of M&E equipment.
Develop subcontractor scope of work and detail scope delineation.
Maintain job files (RFIs, specifications, addenda, construction documents etc.) in both hard and soft copy formats as the project requires.
Prepare, review, and distribute RFIs, submittals, and other contract documents in a timely manner; ensure compliance with the contract documents.
Purchase and monitor the delivery of all needed materials for the project(s) ensuring optimum prices, quality and conformance to specifications.
Execute the project within initial established financial boundaries.
Develop and manage job progress schedules and ensure that the construction of a project parallels the schedule.
Make sure subcontracts are executed and insurance is in place; provide clear definitions of work responsibility to subcontractors and vendors from various trades and ensure that all phases of the work are covered; review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment requests.
Manage the procurement log in coordination with the Project Manager and the Project Superintendent to avoid delays and/or impacts.
Review subcontract and self-perform change orders on the jobsite; perform quantity takeoffs to validate the change requests.
Manage the closeout matrix and rolling completion log; compile operation and maintenance manuals for owner closeout packages.
Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position's and team's objectives.
Qualifications
CEM, Mechanical or Electrical University degree or equivalent experience.
Engineering Working knowledge of plans, prints, specifications, and schematics associated with M&E trades.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction procedures and practices.
Computer literate.
Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must possess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with Fortis policy.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed on an active construction site. Role requires standing or walking for long periods of time. Utilize standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Communication with internal and external contacts, including speaking and hearing. May occasionally move equipment up to 50 lbs.
