Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks an **RF Microwave Design Engineer** in the Amherst Systems business unit within the Navigation, Targeting, and Survivability division.
The **RF ElectronicsEngineering** organization located in Buffalo, NY researches, designs, builds, and tests a variety of electronic components and systems used in the development, test, validation, and training of Electronic Warfare hardware, software, and personnel to ensure the safety and success of the warfighter.
**Roles & Responsibilities:**
- Support RF leads in various projects.
- Run basic simulations using software tools.
- Read and understand RF schematics, source control drawings, and block diagrams.

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

In this role, you will support and lead a variety of projects related to our X-ray analyzers, which are designed and assembled on-site in East Greenbush, NY.
You'll be involved in every stage of product development-from concept generation and documentation through design, prototyping, testing, and introduction to manufacturing. Your work will contribute to new product designs, enhancements to existing systems, and engineered solutions that address process, supply chain, and quality challenges.
You'll collaborate closely with seniorengineers and cross-functional partners across production, manufacturing engineering, procurement, and quality, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive and innovative environment.
This position is part of the Engineering team located in East Greenbush and will be onsite.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
Contributing to the design and development of electrical components for our X-ray elemental analyzers
Leading and collaborating on assigned projects while providing clear and timely progress updates.
Ensuring accurate and complete project documentation.
Applying strong judgment and attention to detail while balancing business and customer needs.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

The Staff Analysis Engineer leads modeling, simulation, and quantitative analysis of electromechanical systems-including motors, drives, gears, actuators, and motion mechanisms. Responsibilities:
Perform advanced analysis across electrical, mechanical, software, and actuation systems.
Use modeling and simulation to define and validate system requirements, performance, reliability, and safety.
Develop test plans and correlate test data with models.
Conduct subsystem testing and support system/vehicle integration.
Apply innovative engineering solutions to enhance product performance.
Review designs and ensure adherence to best practices.
Work with internal teams and customers to define requirements and present technical results.
Improve standard engineering processes and documentation.
Mentor engineers at multiple experience levels.
Support proposals through technical definitions, trade studies, and compliance activities.
Some limited travel may be required (15% typical)

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering with 9+ years of experience (or bachelor's with 11+ years).
Extensive experience using MATLAB and Simscape for dynamic, thermal, and power-flow analysis.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary engineering efforts.
Preferred: FEA/CFD experience (Ansys), knowledge of electric/hybrid propulsion systems, and experience with actuation technologies (motors, gearing, ball screws, DC motor drives).
Preferred: Experience with military programs, government contracting, ITAR, and working with primes or Tier 1 suppliers.
