Job overview and responsibilities
Senior Line Engineers are part of a service engineering team that provide 24/7 engineering technical support for United Airlines Worldwide fleet of operational aircraft to ensure the timely return to service. Provide engineering support for a wide range of aircraft systems, maintenance programs, engines as well as operational engineering functions. Studies, analyzes, and seeks solutions to problems related to the design, operation, maintenance, performance, modification, or repair of aircraft, and their components. Uses a structured, logical, and analytical approach in problem solving. Defines maintenance program, configuration, and serviceability criteria ensuring safe and legal operations. Analyzes and implements regulatory requirements. Evaluates the effects of modifications or new equipment on reliability and performance. Evaluates the benefits of the cost impact of a fleet decision to ensure an optimum balance of cost, asset utilization, quality, and reliability. Authors, designs, tests, and manages projects. Communicates with customers on technical issues, work scope recommendations, and failure investigations. Interfaces with internal and external organizations regarding specific aircraft and component issues.
This position leads and develops potentially complex solutions and implementation plans, project justification, cost/benefit analysis, management of project implementation, technical support, and obtaining FAA approvals as required.
Coordinate work with other operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, operational reliability, and operational efficiency.
Organize and manage the priorities for assigned responsibilities and accomplish the work processes to meet all the deliverables for operational needs, projects, and program changes/technical specification revisions.
Shifts are dependent on work location and assignment and will be designated during the interview process as required. It is important to note that shifts may change based on the needs of the operation.

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor's degree or related experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace), related technical field or equivalent relative work experience
Senior Line Engineer I: 5-8 years
Senior Line Engineer II: 8 years +
Ability to interpret complex and technical Engineering and OEM documents.
Highly detailed level project development and management for regulatory compliance modifications, and overall ownership of specific systems
Must have the ability to communicate detailed, technical information under time-bound and stressful situations.
Successful candidate will have working knowledge of airline or OEM operations.
Knowledge of Code of Regulations (CFRs), airworthiness design and substantiation criteria, aircraft and equipment design and operational characteristics
Must be available to work any shift including nights and weekends as well as holidays.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.

The base pay range for this role is $97,945.00 to $133,540.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.

Key Responsibilities:
Architect the complete electrical system for the robot, including power distribution, high-performance compute, sensing, and actuation.

Senior Power Electronics Engineer
The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and development of the power electronics of our nuclear-driven high-speed generator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the design of high-voltage and high-speed generator drives, DC-DC converters for high-voltage batteries, and standalone and grid-tied inverters. * Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
* Minimum of 4 years of experience designing analog and power electronics
* Experience with power stage design ofcommon DC-DC power converter topologies (e.g. discrete linear regulators, Buck, Boost, Buck-boost, Flyback)
* Experience with voltage mode control and peak current mode control modeling and characterization for DC-DC converters
* Knowledge of control theory and stability of power electronics, including experience characterizing control loops and impedances in the laboratory
* Experience designing power filters for low noise outputs and for power line electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
* Hands-on experience with testing and troubleshooting electronics and power converters using laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators
* Experience with electronics schematic capture and printed circuit board (PCB) layout tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Allegro or Xpedition
* Experience with analysis and simulation tools such as SPICE, LTSPICE, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, PLECS, Simulink, MATLAB, MathCAD, ANSYS Q3D and SiWave, or HyperLynx
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
* Master of Science or PhD in Electrical Engineering with research focus in power electronics
* Experience designing high-reliability analog and power electronics for automotive, space or defense applications
* Knowledge of space radiation environments and radiation effects in electronics
* Experience in power electronics applications utilizing GaN or SiC wide bandgap power semiconductor devices
* Experience developing design verification test plans, requirement compliance matrices, system integration and qualification test plans, and production acceptance test plans
* Experience performing worst-case circuit analysis (WCA), stress analysis, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability analysis for power supplies
* Experience running board-level power integrity simulation using tools such as Ansys SiWave, or HyperLynx
* Experience with power magnetics modeling, design and laboratory characterization
* Knowledge of soft switching and resonant power converter topologies (e.g. LLC, CLLC, series resonant, phase shifted full bridge, dual active bridge, etc.)
* Knowledge of power stage design for inverters and motor drives
* Experience with advanced control schemes for DC-DC power converters (e.g. constant on-time control, boundary mode control, average current mode control)
* Programming skills to support hardware test and data processing (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
