Hughes has an exciting opportunity for a senior level hardware electronic module design engineer supporting our active array antenna technology and other leading edge communication product developments. This position will be located at our office in Gaithersburg, MD and will include the development and support of disruptive products for fixed, aeronautical, maritime, and land mobile satellite applications.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop innovative technical hardware solutions for satellite and terrestrial communications systems. The areas of interest are high-speed digital hardware design, complex FPGA development, and circuit design utilizing mixed signal ASICs.Involvement and contribution to different aspects of the product life cycle including concept, analysis, development, integration, qualification, acceptance, delivery, and maintenance.Work effectively across multiple corporate functions including business, engineering, operations, and manufacturing
Involves selection and lab testing of components for new products.Hands-on testing, validation, and optimization using lab equipment such as high-speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators.Perform schematic capture and high speed signal integrity and power integrity analysis using CAD design software Perform FPGA or board verification using Cadence simulation tools and FPGA vendor synthesis tools

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or related technical field5+ years of experience in product design including one or more of the following disciplines: High speed digital circuit design, FPGA design and simulation, digital signal processing in embedded devices, high speed interface design, SI and PI tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field Experience with RF design, high speed ADC/DAC chips or FPGA SoC devices Experience with embedded processors and DDR memory and high-speed digital interfaces FPGA Design experience using Verilog or VHDLExperience in design of digital systems for high quantity and high reliability Knowledge of wireless communication systems and signal processing Good working knowledge of communications theory Great communication and teamwork skills

What We Are Looking For

Working at our JEC Innovation Center in Tinley Park, Illinois, you will utilize your design and analysis skills to develop products from concept to implementation. The team develops innovative products for all business units in Panduit (Enterprise & Data Center, Industrial Automation and Industrial & Electrical). These products include active safety devices, power devices, wireless devices with a focus on electronic design and circuit development. Your expertise in application architecture, circuit design (both analog and digital), schematic capture, circuit prototyping, circuit testing, circuit debugging, coordinating multiple vendors, and interfacing directly with the manufacturing organizations will be critical to your success in this role. We will rely on your skill set to develop and verify new designs, implement innovative designs into production, and work with vendors and sourcing to support new product launches and lifecycle activities. Our state-of-the art facilities and equipment will provide you with opportunities to see your designs move from concept to production as you solve problems in our customer-focused environment.

What You Will Do

As a technical leader in a project team:
Propose/contribute to system level design. Design and lead architecture level diagram, schematic capture, prototype, and test activities for electronic products Test and verify new concepts/designs. Implement designs into production. Work with vendors and sourcing to define technical requirements for the product/components. Create and execute test plans for hardware and software validation. Design and implement electrical stress tests to ensure the reliability of the product. Design and implement test fixtures to verify the circuit boards and functionality of the final product.

What You Will Bring
BSEE (MSEE or higher degree preferred) with at least 10 years of hardware development experience. Digital and Analog (e.g., drivers, power supplies, batteries) hardware design and development experience at the product level Product/Design experience in power products(e.g., UPS, rack-PDU, power distribution products, ...) The ability to lead/work closely with other engineers, lab technicians, product management and customers in a team environment. Microcontroller based hardware design and development experience at the product level. Working level experience with board support software packages, C, C++. Manufacturing process experience is a plus (i.e., bringing a product from concept through to volume production) Experience in the following areas is required: electronic design and development process, product design and development process, change management system, reliability test, compliance test (performance, environmental and certification), and manufacture test. Schematic capture experience is required (Altium Designer is a plus) Physical circuit board layout experience (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, Mentor, Cadence Allegro) a plus
