This position will be available at the Corpus Christi Plant in Ingleside, TX and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager. This role will serve as a Plant Support Engineer for one or more areas of the assets at this facility. The individual will provide overall Mechanical Engineering guidance and support for the Operations, Maintenance, and Technology Teams for their area(s). This role will entail involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting in the plant, as well as support for improvement programs in the areas of Safety (PSM), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reliability, cost, and new capital installations. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide mechanical expertise for troubleshooting, maintaining, and modifying operating equipment and facilities. Provide technical troubleshooting and training for the operating and maintenance teams. Provide Mechanical expertise for project work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards and quality assurance. Leads and participates in Safety, Reliability and Quality Investigations Participate in maintenance and reliability networks and share best practices, successes, and failures. Perform failure mode and effect analyses to develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks and predictive preventative maintenance (PPM) performed by operators and mechanics. Provides support for both cost and capital projects, including scope development, justification, and coordinating installation of new/modified facilities Maintain personal level of technical expertise in key technologies via training, seminars, and professional organizations Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds, or other non-routine needs. Travel requirements are The following is required for this role: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or strongly related degree from an ABET accredited university. 11+ years of related industrial / manufacturing work experience in Fixed Equipment (will consider degree relevant intern / co-op experience counting toward this requirement). Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering fixed equipment principles in relation to the chemical process industry Strong background in the following: Maintenance and reliability best practices including the work management process and basic materials science including material selection and properties. Knowledge in related fields such as non-destructive testing, welding, fabrication, working with third party fabricators. Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME Piping Codes and API Codes, welding and fabrication processes and repair procedures. Root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), data analysis techniques and statistical interpretation skills, failure analysis including preservation of evidence techniques, engineering design standards and their application, Cost/Capital analysis and justification. Demonstrated skill to diagnose and solve technical problems - making data-based decisions. Strong ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong customer focus and ability to conceptualize customer needs based on customer input.
