The Reactor Systems and Heat Transport department at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a highly motivated Computational Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer to support advanced modeling and simulation efforts for nuclear energy systems at our Idaho Falls, Idaho location. Our team works a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. This position focuses on high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD), thermal-hydraulics, and verification and validation (V&V) of simulation tools and experimental benchmarks. The successful candidate will contribute to national and international collaborative efforts, supporting the development of next-generation nuclear technologies. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and execute CFD models using tools such as STAR-CCM and nek RS for thermal-hydraulic analysis. * Perform high-fidelity simulations including Large Eddy Simulations (LES) and Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS). * Conduct benchmarking and validation studies using experimental data from national and international facilities. * Support verification and validation (V&V) activities for independent analysis and regulatory-grade assessments. * Analyze and compare simulation results across multiple institutions and tools to identify trends and discrepancies. * Apply NEAMS tools for thermal-hydraulic modeling and analysis of nuclear systems. * Model natural convection systems, including radiative heat transfer effects. * Prepare technical reports, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations for sponsors and conferences. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including experimentalists, analysts, and software developers. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering or directly related engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution and (2) years of related experience or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
