Job Overview:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing all submittals, RFIs, Change Orders, Work Breakdown Structure and Material Kits for multiple projects. The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively in a multi-faceted and extremely fast paced team environment.
This position is with our National Team and will be working in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Project will begin 3/1/2026.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks (previously named Roles, Responsibilities and Tasks):
Respond to internal customer needs and resolve their issues in a timely manner
Works closely with external customers Project Engineer and/or Assistant Project Managers
Schedule and participate in project meetings (start-up, weekly, close-out)
Take notes and capture action items during project meetings
Prepare, maintain, and process RFI's, Submittals and close-out documents
Create and maintain Project Logs (Change Requests, Submittals, RFIs) - Sending weekly updates to customer for discussion
Assist Project Managers and Project Executives in project duties
Process material, rental equipment and tool orders
Perform material takeoffs, with assistance, for Change Orders Request processing
Prepare and coordinate delivery of site mobilization documentation
Input and manage project scheduling functions, WBS and SIS, 10-5-2-1
Collaborate with CI for material kit deliveries and backorders
Maintain Construction Documents in Plan Grid and distribute to internal/external parties
Perform all duties as outlined on the published Roles and Responsibilities Matrix

Compensation:
Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee's knowledge, experience and skill level.
Work environment:
Project Engineers typically work in an office environment, although they may occasionally visit worksites to observe a project or to meet with clients. When on worksites Project Engineers is to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), always including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots and high viz vest/ shirt. Working around energized equipment. This role requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (previously named Qualifications):
Minimum 1 year experience in Construction Management, or Electrical Field preferred
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and their components
Read and understand electrical drawings and specifications
Excellent communication and organization skills, the ability to be a team player and detail oriented are preferred
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to verbally communicate: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
Ability to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information.
Required to sit at a desk work station for long periods of time.
Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.
Frequently required to walk and stand. This position may involve infrequent site visits which will require the ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

The Sales Designer is an engineering-focused role responsible for developing compliant, manufacturable custom ambulance designs and the underlying technical and cost structures that enable accurate pricing and successful production. This position serves as a technical authority during the pre-order and order-definition phases, translating customer requirements into engineered solutions that meet regulatory standards, production capabilities, and margin objectives.
The role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams, while supporting sales through technically validated designs and pricing recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design Development
Engineer custom ambulance layouts, systems, and configurations based on customer operational requirements
Develop detailed vehicle designs that comply with applicable standards (e.g., KKK, NFPA, SAE, state regulations)
Create and maintain AutoCAD drawings, layouts, and technical documentation to support build accuracy
Ensure all designs are manufacturable within current production processes and capacity
Evaluate design tradeoffs related to performance, safety, ergonomics, durability, and cost
Cost Engineering & Pricing Support
Develop detailed cost models for new, custom, or non-standard ambulance options, including material, labor, and complexity impacts
Partner with manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering to validate BOMs, labor routings, and cost assumptions
Establish technically sound pricing recommendations that reflect true production cost and support margin targets
Document engineering assumptions, cost drivers, and design constraints for custom configurations
Support quote reviews by ensuring all options are technically feasible, accurately scoped, and priced
Cross-Functional Technical Collaboration
Act as a technical liaison between sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain
Support engineering change management when customer requirements or standards evolve
Assist production in resolving design-related issues during manufacturing and initial builds
Participate in design reviews, build kickoffs, and continuous improvement initiatives
Standardization & Continuous Improvement
Identify recurring custom requests and convert them into engineered, repeatable, and priced standard options
Support development of design standards, templates, and configuration rules
Improve accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency in pre-production design and costing processes
Contribute to lessons learned and design for manufacturability (DFM) initiatives
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and controlled design documentation, specifications, and revisions
Ensure all configurations align with approved engineering standards and regulatory requirements
Support audits, compliance reviews, and customer documentation needs
Required Qualifications
Experience in engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical design within a custom or engineered-to-order environment
Proficiency with AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of vehicle systems, electrical, mechanical, and structural design principles
