A successful ADC Engineering Manager will do much more than manage infrastructure, tools, and people. You will provide leadership in driving automation that makes operating a massive large scale distributed system easy, while improving customer experience. You will own and drive the performance of applications, while auditing and driving operational efficiencies.
The ideal candidate is:
A good people manager. Building, motivating and mentoring a world-class DevOps engineering team is the most important part of this role. You should have a proven track record in recruiting and retaining top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.
Is technically and operationally deep. You will regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical after-action discussions to identify root cause of complex issues. The ideal candidate has experience as a software or systems engineer.
Has strong project management experience. The successful candidate will create roadmaps for the team. This will include helping innovate and invent new value-add services layered on top of our existing services. You will need excellent technical project management skills to deliver roadmap items as well as other cross-team projects. Experience with Agile methodologies is an advantage.
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Our Lightspeed RF System Engineering team defines the performance required of all RF elements in the satellite communication system. This job posting desires management experience, but we will equally consider candidates who are solid individual contributors with some team-lead assignments in the past, and Telesat will provide on-the-job training to become an effective manager.
As a Manager of Radio System Engineering, you will lead all technical aspects of the radio system architecture of the Telesat Lightspeed systems in terms of air interface definition, concept of operations, functional descriptions, and physical implementation of the RF functions. In particular, you will define the functional and performance requirements related to the radio system function as applicable to the satellite payload, user terminals, and landing stations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bring expert-level experience in taking an RF design to market, where you contributed to the RF trade space. Trade space includes aspects like ACP, PAR, out-of-band emissions, pass-band ripple, group delay, etc. You will support the existing team in finalizing the definition of all aspects of the radio system implementation involving agile multi-beam phased array antennas using beam hopping.
Support the definition of operations for all phases of the functional requirements, including user terminal commissioning, network entry, satellite handovers, time synchronization, adaptive coding, and modulation (ACM), among others.
You will serve as the principal system architect for defining all air interfaces between the user terminals, landing stations, and satellite payloads.
Work with system architects, RF engineers, antenna engineers, and user terminal and landing station engineers to partition functions between hardware and software domains.
Work with the system modeling team to provide guidance on system design assumptions to be considered in the system model.
Develop strategies for modeling link performance accounting for impairments of the different elements in the system.
Collaborate with the Verification and Test group to plan proper validation of the requirements to ensure appropriate system performance.
Stay involved within the DVB standard forum and provide recommendations as part of Telesat's engagement on the forum.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer, or System Engineering and at least 15 years of relevant experience in RF communications systems and/or RF equipment manufacturing.
Experience taking an RF design through iterations and specification changes through low-rate equipment production.
Experience in system design, requirement management, and communication systems performance assessments.
Desired knowledge of DVB standards such as DVB-S2X and DVB-RCS2 standard.
Knowledge of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques, modulation types such as PSK, APSK, QAM.
Have a good understanding of MATLAB or other tools for modeling and analyzing RF communication systems.
Thorough understanding of RF passive and active components.
Experience characterizing radio performance at microwave frequencies, including rain fade and its effects on the communication links.
Knowledge of RF transceiver architectures and digital communication theory.
Highly collaborative team player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, demonstrating that you have communicated effectively with management, engineering teams, and partners/suppliers.
DECISION MAKING & SUPERVISION:
In this role, the incumbent will provide leadership and make important technical recommendations on implementing the Lightspeed System design.
This role will expand during the program to an organization of between 3 and 6 engineering staff.

This position supports the program's Geospatial Services & Solutions) team to provide quality cost effective solutions to the client. As part of the team the Hybrid Cloud Lab Engineer's expertise is needed to support a sophisticated enterprise hybrid cloud lab environment.
The Hybrid Cloud Lab Engineer will be responsible for the engineering and execution of all Datacenter and Cloud Lab environments and ensuring connectivity between the environments to meet the business area's strategic objectives. The Lab Engineer will work closely with a variety of stakeholders to provide internal services to GSS teams, such as architects, engineers, and developers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with management and architects to align the lab's architecture to strategic and tactical goals
Be an engineer for major initiatives, changes and deployments, and handle the diagnosis of complex issues within the virtual environment
Responsible for operating and maintaining network configurations and virtualization environments
Responsible for managing and coordinating the installation and maintenance of all physical infrastructure
Ensure appropriate security and hardening measures are in place for development and test environments
Responsible for organizing and maintaining all lab cloud environments and assist in controlling cost in cloud accounts
Coordinate with other services lanes (Storage Team, Database Team, etc.) for larger lab deployments

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Manager Digital Engineering 3 opportunity. This is a dual role manager position, involving both overall management of a Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) section (comprising multiple functional groups), and performance of individual productive work on a program or several programs.
This individual will be responsible for software and digital technologies for the Land and Maritime Sensors (LMS) Business unit within the Maritime / Land Sensor Systems (MLSS) Division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, and will report to the Engineering Director for this business unit. The section manager is a manager of manager positions for ~40 employees with direct supervision of the individual group managers and the senior technical staff. Specific management responsibilities include staffing programs, managing nonapplied time, managing headcount and mentoring; yearly goal setting; review and evaluation of employee performance; employee skill development and career growth; monitoring of compliance with department processes and company values; providing team leadership and engagement; and approving time charging. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with peer section managers on interacting with business division counterparts to coordinate staffing and other program support (e.g. proposal reviews, design reviews, customer meetings). The section manager will be responsible for implementing the vision of the department within his/her section, and leading department initiatives.
The section manager will also be expected to perform productive (direct-charge) work on programs. It is anticipated that the section lead will charge programs directly for 60-80% of their time and charge indirect for 20-40% of their time.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Salary Range: $178,500 - $267,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
