Primary Responsibilities:
This is a management role requiring knowledge of electrical product testing and certification. The individual will be responsible for testing and managing lab throughput as well as client communication of projects and sales support. This individual will manage projects from the proposal process through the delivery of the final test report. Additional duties include generation of quality procedures and work instructions, design, and implementation of test fixtures, acquiring lab equipment and obtaining/maintaining facility accreditations. This position will include managing direct reports.
Specifically, these responsibilities are to:
Review the design of electrical products against UL / CSA / EN / IEC standards with customers
Conduct project reviews in accordance with UL / CSA /EN / IEC standards
Managing engineers and technicians
Developing and maintaining site accreditations
Procurement of test equipment and lab development
Ability to engage with sales to develop and expand the market
Travel to customer sites and other SGS facilities - Requires 25-35% travel
Specific knowledge of IEC/UL 62368-1 and IEC/UL 61010-1 is preferred.
Qualifications

BSEE or equivalent degree or
6+ years in the certification, testing industry.
In-depth knowledge of ISO 17025 site accreditation requirements
Able to travel outside the US.

Lead or support root cause analysis, testing, and validation activities for field or production issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Provide engineering support to ensure the Corporation's compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. This shall include technical evaluation of work required to comply with the Standards, performance and/or oversight of work required, evidence generation, procedure development, data requests, TO/TOP coordination, new standard implementation, etc.
Develop and review fleet maintenance practices, processes, and procedures.
Oversee Electrical Testing, Predictive/Preventive Maintenance, overhauls, and construction at Plants or repair facilities.
Serve as the OPC technical expert on electrical power engineering and predictive and preventive maintenance.
Establish and implement for Electrical Engineering Group short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, monitor and evaluate effectiveness, and initiate improvement as necessary.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of OPC policies and procedures.
Provide services, such as the review of drawings, specifications, design memoranda, etc., to generation projects in development or under construction.
Perform various ad hoc studies, and analyses, research special topics and issues, and develop communications products such as PowerPoint presentations, white papers, or briefing materials as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (preferably BSEE) - Technical and business knowledge of generating plant operation, performance, and economics.
Experience:10+ years minimum engineering and five years minimum preventive and predictive maintenance experience in an operating commercial electric power generating plant is required, including planning, budgeting, preventive and predictive maintenance, and maintenance analysis. 5 years minimum experience with performance management, including supervision of direct reports.
Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred and valid driver's license that meets the insurance requirements under Oglethorpe Power's Drivers Qualification Program.
