Position Summary:
This individual will play a pivotal role in driving test engineering and process improvements, optimizing designs, and supporting production operations, directing a team of engineers and technicians. This role requires a combination of leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on experience in test and process engineering within a high-reliability electronics manufacturing environment.
Key Position Accountabilities:
Provides technical leadership to address challenges and introduce new capabilities to DDC's Manufacturing and Test Engineering.
Oversees the design and development of test fixtures and software, ensuring the creation of innovative and reliable test systems.
Lead efforts to research and implement new testing methods, equipment, and techniques to enhance product testing capabilities.
Participates in the development of new products and supports the timely fabrication and testing of designs.
Leads the creation of new processes and procedures, contributing to teams of varied technical disciplines, and ensuring efficient process documentation (SOPs, travelers, etc.).
Collaborate with design teams to develop innovative approaches that optimize product design trade-offs, including cost, performance, and time to market.
Provides leadership and oversight to day-to-day Process Engineering support across the company (Engineering, Product Development, Test Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Product Assurance), focusing on improving processes and resolving production issues.
Lead failure analysis investigations of in-house and customer-returned products. Collaborate with other engineering teams to make data-driven recommendations that improve product quality and reduce the likelihood of failures.
Manages the development and execution of project plans , including resource allocation and schedule oversight, ensuring the timely and successful introduction of new processes and test technologies in alignment with company objectives.
Propose and champion the implementation of new methods, capital equipment, technologies, and processes to enhance product performance and operational efficiency.
Leads continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness with a focus on Productivity in both Test and Assembly areas.
Secondary Duties:
Participate in technical meetings with standards organizations, ensuring alignment with DDC's strategic goals.
Coordinate testing, perform failure analysis, and support Applications Engineering in resolving product-related issues at customer sites.
Lead vendor selection for major design projects, considering technical performance, risk, and cost.
Manage and Identify opportunities for Capital Improvements and Productivity associated.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Sciences required; Graduate degree and previous leadership training is desirable.
Experience: 7+ years of relevant engineering experience, with a focus on test or process engineering and manufacturing support; and 2+ years' experience as a supervisor, lead engineer or seniorengineer.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of MIL STDs 883, MIL-PRF 38534, 38510, IPC 610 (desirable).
Proven expertise in designing, optimizing, and implementing test systems, fixtures, and software.
Strong knowledge of test equipment, failure analysis techniques, and process improvement strategies
Familiarity with all aspect of Electronics manufacturing including Hybrid and PCB manufacturing.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and manage complex engineering projects.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to a wide range of audiences.
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of industry best practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
Ability to make decisions under pressure and manage competing priorities.

The Electrical EngineeringManager will report to the Director of Hardware and will mentor a growing team of electrical engineers. What You Will Do
* Hire, train and manage the electrical engineering department throughout the development of Opentrons robots and modules.

What We Are Looking For
Experience:

Compensation Range: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $165,000 and $190,000 per year; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity and full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. This role will own the technical vision, execution, and performance of Versant's mobile and CTV products, ensuring our apps deliver world-class viewing experiences to millions of users.
You will lead multiple engineering teams, foster cross-functional collaboration, and work closely with Product, Design, QA, Data, and Business stakeholders to drive platform innovation, technical excellence, and operational performance. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who is both strategic and hands-on, with a passion for media technology and delivering delightful customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy Lead, inspire, and scale a team of engineers and engineeringmanagers across mobile (iOS, Android) and CTV (tv OS, Roku, Lightning) platforms
Define and drive the technical strategy, roadmap, and execution plans aligned with product vision and business priorities
Act as the voice of engineering in product and executive conversations-advocating for scalability, performance, maintainability, and customer impact
Collaborate closely with stakeholders across Product, Design, Editorial, QA, Video Engineering, and UX Research to shape platform direction and user experience
Engineering Excellence: Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance across mobile and CTV apps
Champion best practices in software development, security, architecture, testing, and CI/CD
Drive consistency in architecture and shared services across mobile and CTV platforms, identifying opportunities for modularization and cross-platform efficiency
Oversee architectural decisions to support long-term maintainability and extensibility
Establish and uphold technical governance practices to ensure code quality, platform security, and development consistency
Customer Experience & Delivery: Advocate relentlessly for the end user-driving features and optimizations that enhance speed, video quality, usability, and engagement
Balance rapid feature delivery with technical sustainability and platform quality
Oversee incident response and operational health of apps across all supported devices
Define and track key engineering KPIs including crash rate, app performance, playback reliability, code quality, application security posture improvements and delivery velocity
Coordinate with internal platform teams, third-party service providers, and device partners for feature rollouts and platform enhancements.
Talent & Culture: Mentor, develop, and retain top engineering talent; grow technical leadership within the teams
Foster an inclusive and collaborative culture of excellence, ownership, and innovation
Lead by example in promoting accountability, clear communication, and high-impact execution
Qualifications
Qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles
Proven experience delivering large-scale mobile and/or CTV applications at high user scale
Strong technical background in native mobile (iOS, Android) and CTV (tv OS, Roku, Lightning framework) development
Experience managing multiple teams or platforms with varying tech stacks and device-specific needs
Strong knowledge of video streaming, playback optimization, and performance tuning
Experience with video streaming technologies (HLS, DASH, DRM, CDNs)
Experience with video players (e.g., JWPlayer, VideoJS, Shaka, ExoPlayer, AVPlayer), analytics tools (Adobe, Comscore) and QoS (Conviva)
Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, agile practices, observability, and mobile CI/CD pipelines
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and drive outcomes across teams
Preferred Qualifications
Background in the media, streaming, or publishing industry Experience with hybrid or cross-platform frameworks
Familiarity with analytics tools, crash reporting platforms, and feature experimentation frameworks
Understanding of privacy, compliance, and security concerns in mobile/CTV development
Track record of building customer-first, data-informed engineering organizations
Familiarity with ad-tech integration CSAI (Client-side Ad Insertion) and SSAI (Server-Side Ad Insertion)

Salary range: $225,000-$250,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible).
