In addition, she/he will actively manage their direct reports in areas such as safety, job expectations, quality of work, career goals, mentoring/coaching, and Engineering Department accountabilities. Job Responsibilities Planning, prioritization, allocation, and management of resources to ensure program engineering assignments are completed on schedule and within budget to the appropriate technical rigor as well as meeting department budgetary goals. Assigns and verifies completion of all preventative maintenance projects while adhering to brand standards. Ensure assets are maintained to achieve maximum useful life in terms of serviceability and appearance. Manage all renovation and special projects. Maintain fire standpipe, sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers throughout the facility to ensure proper working condition and fire protection in compliance with local fire codes Adheres to all Corporate required purchasing policies and controls, to include all outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules. Informs the GM and hotel department heads regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems and equipment offering prudent, and cost-effective proposals for maintaining same. Ensure aggressive guest first approach among team members and provide a friendly, guest contact experience. Achieve the human resource goals for the Maintenance Department including hiring, orientation of new team members, training and development of team members as well as provide a professional and caring work environment. Maintain effective communication and feedback with team. Maintain a professional and ethical image for the Maintenance Department. Communicate effectively with city officials to ensure proper maintenance of permits and licenses. Lead the Safety and Security effort at the property. Provide needed input in development of and provide supervision of various projects. Key member and participant of the Hotel's Manager On Duty Program Collectively makes key strategic and operational decisions for the Resort. The Chief oversees a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialists responsible for all engineering operations for interior/exterior facilities including plumbing, refrigeration, heating/cooling, painting, carpentry, structural, recycling, electrical, ground care and parking areas. The Chief is also responsible for Life/Fire safety systems, energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees. Technical Requirements: Previous Engineering Management experience required Update and maintain engineering policies, procedures, work orders, etc. Maintain preventive maintenance program. Skilled in the proper and safe use of all tools, equipment, materials, chemicals, and products relating to the department Strong understanding in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. Familiar with chemical treatments, control systems, water systems, boilers, refrigeration, compressors, etc. EPA and CPO Certified a Plus Work closely with contractors on repair and capital projects. Considerable knowledge of OSHA standards and application for working with chemicals. Obtain competitive bids for all supplies and work orders. Make cost evaluations on in-house repairs versus subcontractors. Managerial Requirements: We are looking for individuals who have solid project management skills, evidence a strong work/ethic, adaptability and flexibility and leadership skills. Instill a guest service attitude in all employees. Ability to clearly and concisely present technical subjects. Strong ability to understand and manage expenses. Experience communicating, training, and managing multi-lingual staffs. Experience training and cross-training employees. Experience training and developing employees with limited education/experience. Applicants are required to have five years' previous management experience in hotel or building engineering maintenance. Qualifications are required either a Professional degree in an Engineering discipline, trade degree in a specific technical field relating to Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering) or CEOE - Certified Engineering Operations Executive from the Hotel and motel Hospitality Association.
