This will be a full-time, salaried position. This position reports to the Vice President of Heavy Civil Estimating and is based in-office in our Marietta, GA headquarters. THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION. Occasional work from home is possible but you must be based locally in the Metro Atlanta, GA area or be willing to relocate. General Summary of the Position Produce construction cost estimates for assigned proposals. Work alone or in a team to complete all assigned tasks. Essential Functions include but are not limited to (other duties may be assigned as needed): Review Plans and Specifications to understand the scope to work. Analyze the project and prepare takeoffs, detailed estimate setup, subcontractor and vendor RFQs, and follow up on RFQs to ensure quotes are received. Visit project sites to determine potential problems, verify quantities, and determine options for construction methodology. Attend pre-bid meetings Use computer-based software to complete takeoffs, verify field measurements, and obtain information from the Contract Documents to accurately calculate information for estimates. Proactively communicate with VP of Heavy Civil Estimating and other members of the team. Assist with preparing Subcontracts and Purchase Orders Prepare project schedules for estimates. Prepare reports, business correspondence, and documents. Performs other related duties as assigned. Assigned tasks are completed on time, in a professional and organized manner. Positive Company image is made with clients, potential clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Good working relationships with internal staff, subcontractors, vendors, client representatives, etc. maintaining ethical standards. Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret Plans, Specifications, and other Contract Documents. Estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing. Understanding of Civil Engineering and Construction Principles. Project Management principles, practices, and methods. Understanding of Principles of Administration, Leadership, Supervision, and Training. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Estimating software to include B2W, AGTEK, BlueBeam, and Google Earth. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience in the State of Georgia is preferred. Work Environment: Office environment majority of time. Travel to project sites, as needed. Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working near moving construction equipment. Work in a field environment with exposure to dust and/or fumes, inclement weather conditions, extreme heat, and cold. The noise level in the field environment can be loud. Other Requirements: Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Ranging from concept to feasibility level studies you will support the estimating effort working directly with engineering, procurement and construction to ensure timely completion of the estimating deliverables. This position may be based anywhere within the United States. Your role Full cycle (Estimate Plan to Basis) capital cost development for all classes of estimates including Conceptual, Order of Magnitude, Prefeasibility, Feasibility and Definitive class estimates as outlined by AACE International. Strategic application of industry estimating methodologies and techniques to develop capital cost estimates within desired accuracy ranges while respecting project timelines. Perform multidisciplinary estimating for surface scope mining projects which includes site development, processing facilitates and non-process support infrastructure. Development of sustaining capital, reclamation and/or closure estimates. Actively contribute to department initiatives including team and interdisciplinary collaboration, benchmarking advancement and implementing lessons learned. About you 8-10 years of progressive experience in developing capital cost estimates for mining projects. Estimating experience in Carbon Capture technologies, Decarbonization Projects, Green Ammonia considered an asset. Experience with estimating software's considered an asset. Demonstrated experience in multi-disciplinary estimating. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing. Develop and maintain cost databases, historical data, and pricing standards. Assist in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting as needed. Attend pre-bid meetings, client presentations, and assist in proposal preparation. Ensure estimates comply with company standards and client requirements. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in construction estimating (commercial and/or residential). Proficiency in construction management or estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore). Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards. Experience reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. Knowledge of project management practices preferred.     The Senior Estimator operates with minimal oversight on preconstruction teams, frequently serving as the principal point of contact with the design team and the owner. Senior estimators are capable of leading all types of project delivery methods and have demonstrated competence in basic and advanced estimating functions. Desired estimating disciplines include earthwork, paving, underground utilities, and structures on transit, civil infrastructure, and highway projects. Successful candidates will prepare detailed take-offs, solicit quotes, develop cost estimates, and close out bids. Key Responsibilities 1. Advanced level HCSS knowledge of estimate entry and quote system tools. 2. Estimate all scopes related to their discipline area of expertise. 3. Perform detailed quantity take-offs on bid items and materials in order to develop allinclusive cost estimates. 4. Estimate unit costs by analyzing crew composition, production rates, and equipment selection. 5. Participate in detailed reviews, providing thorough explanation of estimate. 6. Utilization of relevant cost history database to verify production rates. 7. Prepare supplier bid packages to ensure that self-performed work has competitive material quotes. 8. Coordinate junior estimators and interns with takeoff and vendor solicitation processes. 9. Assist in obtaining firm quotes for material suppliers, equipment and subcontractors. Minimum Job Requirements 1. Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs. 2. Preferred candidates will have obtained their LEED accreditation and DBIA certification, or express willingness to obtain. 3. Four‐year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. 4. Ten or more years of experience in an estimating role. 5. Successful history executing projects as the prime point of contact with minimal oversight for project teams. 6. Ideal candidates will have project experience in one or more key market sectors identified by the business unit.
