Vision IT provides strategic consulting services to meet mission IT requirements for our government clients. Vision IT is hiring a full-time UNIX/LINUX Senior System Administrator to support the Regional Cyber Center CONUS (RCC-C).

The Unix/Linux SME provides services in support of the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) RCC-C. You will provide recommendations to the Government pertaining to industry vision and strategic direction regarding enterprise system design, system implementation, system optimization, system enhancement, systems management processes and technology insertion of network and NetOps capabilities. You will assist the Government in defining and designing system specifications and standards, analyzing system input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and interoperability in support of system capabilities. Provide planning, design, development, engineering, integration, and technical and operational support to RCC-C projects. Applies new solutions through research and collaboration with team and determines course of action for new application initiatives. Implements new software solutions as required by the business. The core infrastructure technology duties include:

RedHat Linux/ Unix Systems Administrator-Intermediate supporting a 24x7 enterprise support organization. This position will consist of daily maintenance of RedHat Linux systems. This will include but may not be limited to:

Installing, configuring, and maintaining servers using the RedHat Linux operating system based on internally developed processes.

Monitoring log files, performance issues, and the production environment for mission critical systems
Participate in an on-call rotation for UNIX/Linux support issues Follow standard operating procedures to ensure the security posture of the environment Engaging in continuous learning to stay abreast on new and emerging technologies that relate to the Linux environment Work independently as well as a team member Ability to set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines Ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines Maintain a cooperative working relationship with those contacted during the course of the work day
Education
BA/BS or equivalent experience
Minimum Qualifications/Certifications
HS + 6 yrs. similar experience, AA/AS + 4 years or BA/BS +2 Active in scope SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain Interim SECRET eligibility An IAT II certification (CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) is required at start date RHCSA or similar Linux professional certificate required IAW 8570 Baseline Certification requirements document within 180 days of hire. Ability to perform on-call and after duty hours as needed An ability to communicate effectively both orally and in a written form with users and office staff Work independently and within a team structure An ability to set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines

Responsibilities


The primary role of this position as a member of the Integrated Ground System Support (IGSS) group is to provide computer system administration support to JWST IGSS systems locally at Goddard Space Flight Center, the Science Institute in Baltimore and remote systems around the country and overseas. This includes installation and configuration of systems.

Position Duties:

Troubleshoots and maintains existing IGSS software on existing I&T systems; system availability is mission critical. Performs system integration and engineering Integrates new software releases to upgrade existing systems Installs latest OS patches to maintain a strong security posture Analyzes and maintains subsystem interfaces to ensure that subsystems are integrated and work together to form a viable complete system. Works with stakeholders to understand and resolve problems


Qualifications


Required Skills:

US Citizenship, ability to obtain National Agency Check Inquiry (NACI) background check required BS degree in engineering or applied science with 7-10 years experience Strong working knowledge of Linux and Red Hat operating system is required. Windows System Administration is a must including knowledge of SharePoint, Active Directory, and anti-virus software. -Back-up and recovery experience Strong experience in Windows and Linux security technologies with the ability to assess and mitigate security vulnerabilities. Ability to self-educate/train on the functionality of the ground system software Understands scripting and can apply that knowledge to understand how it is used within the IGSS software An understanding of networking principles and implementation An understanding of the virtual environment and VMware a plus Installs and maintains group policies Knowledgeable in NASA security policies and practices Possesses an understanding of the computer system internals, operating systems and layered products, and demonstrates an aptitude and willingness to keep technical skills current by learning new features of operating systems, hardware, tools, and technologies. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Senior Systems Administrator to join the Information Services Department. This is a temporary full-time exempt position, and is eligible for benefits. This role is anticpated not to exceed 12/31/2022. This is a fully remote role.

Works as part of a team to design, implement, and support WHOI’s computing infrastructure, with an emphasis on Linux server administration and storage management.

Works closely with scientists and researchers who are leaders in their fields, advising and assisting them with their computing, storage, and backup needs. Provides high level customer service, with demonstrated ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical users.
Essential Functions:
Work with and provide system support to scientific users, researchers, and administrative
staff. Install, configure and monitor servers, both physical and virtual, with an advanced
knowledge and understanding of Linux server configurations including networking. Must
have experience with shell scripting (one or more of Bash, Perl, Python, etc.) Management of the Institution’s VMware clusters, including support for VMware Horizon
(VDI). Install, configure and monitor data storage. Should possess a thorough understanding of
mainstream file systems, RAID, and NAS protocols. Ideally also familiar with high
performance storage architectures (GPFS/Lustre/BeeGFS). Deploy and manage backup services for servers, storage appliances, and select end user
devices. Manage common infrastructure applications, such as Apache/IIS, J2EE services,
AD/OpenLDAP, MS SQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL, and certificate management. Keep current on new technologies as they relate to server administration, storage and
Cloud Services.

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent
combination of skills/experience.
• 10+ years of experience supporting a large, networked computing environment.
• Experience with monitoring packages (e.g. Nagios), version control systems (e.g. SVN, GIT),
and automation/configuration orchestration (e.g. Ansible)
• Should have experience in at least one interpreted language (e.g. Perl, Python, Ruby).
• Experience with cloud computing (IaaS) including AWS or Azure is a plus.
• Experience with container technologies (e.g. Docker, Singularity) and associated
orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes) a plus.
• Must be eligible for security clearance to work on systems with specific requirements.
