We are looking for another dedicated person to join us. We have an immediate opening for a full time Senior Research and Development Manager at our headquarters in Santa Maria, CA. The Senior R&D Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating new product design, development, verification and validation. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to; business development activities including setting up and managing strategic relationships and alliances with other third-party companies, sharing responsibilities for the implementation of the strategic business plan through the identification and analysis of opportunities for the acquisition/divestiture of technologies, products and companies. This position works in partnership with senior management to set up and manage strategic relationships and alliances with other third party companies to develop, manufacture, sell or purchase products and technologies. A minimum of a master's degree in microbiology or related field; or five years related experience and/or training is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Project and fiscal management experience is highly desired. College courses in medical microbiology, food/industrial microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, word processing and spreadsheet software are desirable. Membership in relevant industry recognized professional organizations (ASM, IAFP, AOAC, PDA, etc.) and completion of a minimum of 12 hours of documented continuing education annually is also desired.

The Process Technology Manager will be responsible for supporting new process and product development, technology evaluations for potential external partnerships and acquisitions as well as commercialization and manufacturing support. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of managing a group of engineers including technical direction, team development and coaching, business strategy development and growth of the group.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead the Plant-based Proteins Team within the Process Technology group to support the development and commercialization of innovative ingredients for the food & beverage industry Lead all activities related to execution of projects supporting the Ingredion Growth PlatformsDevelop and execute the strategic plan for the team to meet business needs Perform financial evaluation and quantify probability of success of early-stage technologies to ensure projects generate value for the organization Develop and support innovation function practices that enhance group efficiency Lead the team to deliver on project milestones and advise teams on technical elements related to process scale-up Provide financial and strategic justification for capital investments for new technology commercialization Develop and deliver on annual technical goals for the team based on the needs of the business Identify new process technologies and third-party research partners that may be relevant for IngredionAnticipate competitive business threats based on published literature on active research programs (e.g. patent filings) Support development of Ingredion's long-term strategic research agenda Support the generation and protection of Ingredion's intellectual property Manage and coach the team in excellence in safety behavior, goal setting, development plans, performance appraisals, training, and engagement with business deliverables Develop strong relationships with global and regional R&D, Go-To-Market (GTM), and Manufacturing networks within IngredionEffectively interact with R&D, GTM and Manufacturing leadership teams through written and oral communications to drive the growth and effectiveness of the group Drive the team to collaborate with colleagues to make significant contribution to deliver goals and execute project plans

Qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor/Master of Science with 15+ years relevant experience or PhD with 10+ years relevant experience in Chemical, Biochemical or Food Engineering.Expertise in plant-based proteins product and process development (extraction, purification, thermal treatment, etc.), including scale-up, operation, downstream purification technologies Experience in the management of research professionals (engineers, chemists, etc.) Expertise in the food processing, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical industry with emphasis on scale-up from pilot to manufacturing Knowledge of basic statistics, measurement system assessment and six-sigma principles Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to convey information in a clear, focused and concise manner.Demonstrated ability to work with leadership of business units, R&D, Technical Service, Manufacturing, and Regulatory groups to drive delivery on projects.Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills

will be an experienced technical leader with a passion for Fiber services delivered by Broadband Service Providers to their subscribers resulting in a unique subscriber experience. A passionate learner, someone who strives to continuously improve their understanding of our products and how they solve our customers' problems.

While Networking technical experience is a must, they should have shown a broad-based experience, understanding Hardware design, Manufacturing, Support engagement and Account Team engagement.

Qualifications:
Tier 1 Networking SW & Products.Significant direct experience in successful Customer engagements. Experience with Network design and solutions. Working knowledge of the IP protocol Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science / EE related field or equivalent practical experience.10+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or technical product/program management experience Experience delivering technical programs or products from inception to delivery.Cross functional experience with all functions required to define, build, deliver & support suite.Experience with Networking Use Cases, gathering requirements, and defining scope.Strong ability to clearly articulate complex and technical concepts and solutions to broad audiences.Experience operating autonomously across multiple functions, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership.Calix requires all employees based in North America who will work onsite at a Calix office, attend in-person meetings, and/or travel on behalf of Calix to be fully vaccinated. Working with Legal departments.Strong track record of collaboration with offshore counterparts.Experience with the following Jira and/or Salesforce.com is preferred.
