We are looking for a Senior Materials Sourcing Specialist to join our Materials Research Team. In this role, you will find and source material samples for our global clients. In this remarkably dynamic role, you will work closely with our client's and research team members to understand the material challenges our client's face and perform research to find solutions which will solve their material/sustainability challenges. At the conclusion of your research, you will present your recommendations to the client.

A working knowledge of raw materials, their applications, the material development process and product development are required. Successful candidates are typically "left and right brain thinkers" who are capable of stepping into the creative world of product design and support those creative teams in making their products a functional reality.

This role is a great fit for someone with a remarkable attention to detail and outstanding organization skills who can balance competing priorities and timelines with ease and a commitment to patience and diligence.

What you'll do:

• Research and present material innovations for internal and external project work
• Prepare and deliver in-depth materials research to Clients
• Act in both lead Researcher and supporting Researcher roles based on the department's need and workload
• Own the material research process end-to-end, including the preparation of presentations, scheduling client deliveries/meetings, and working closely with Sales partners to ensure client satisfaction and identify new opportunities between the Client and MCX
• Identify 10 new material technologies for potential inclusion into the library per month
• Expertly manage your work, balancing many projects and deadlines at once with polish and professionalism
• Contribute to Material Insights, our proprietary content platform which may include, but is not limited to, on-camera and/or written content contributed on a monthly basis

What you'll bring:

• Masters of Material Science degree or equivalent (will consider Environmental Science, Textile engineering, Sustainable Design, and Industrial Design degrees if sufficient materials knowledge can be demonstrated)
• 2-3+ years of client-facing experience in the consumer products industry
• A willingness to own and manage all aspects of the client's Advisory Delivery experience as an individual contributor
• Excellent research abilities and analytical skills
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written an oral; must be comfortable presenting findings to diverse group of stakeholders who possess a wide range of material knowledge (from laymen to expert)
• Exceptional organization skills
• A "can-do" attitude and drive to do whatever it takes to complete the work, and to the client's satisfaction

Functioning more independently than the journey-level Periop Materials Cost Specialist, assists with the management of materials cost containment in the operating room. Maintains the inventory control system and database. Assists management with department budget issues, and provides lead direction to operating room storekeepers. Ensures compliance with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) agreements. Responsible for achieving all Service Area and National Contracting and Purchasing (NCAP) cost savings goals.Works with the Perioperative Manager and the local Labor Management Partnership representative to identify and achieve cost savings and implement safety products.
Essential Responsibilities:

+ Takes a lead role in the development and maintenance of a purchasing strategy for the Operating Room that is consistent with the overall national sourcing strategy to ensure KP receives the best value for dollars spent on products and services.

+ Supports Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) agreements and NCAP goals including: Transacts contracts through the appropriate purchasing channels (e Procurement or TIMS/MMS).

+ Conducts trend analysis and compliance monitoring.

+ Recommends changes, additions and deletions to contracts.

+ Advises and alerts NCAP and GPO of new services that will require new products and, thus, new contracts.

+ Insures that all Internal Audit Controls are followed.

+ Identifies and implements Product Utilization savings.

+ Working with physicians, analyzes and organizes key information necessary for the Materials Manager to build the annual budget, including average case cost estimates.

+ Conducts research into and recommends corrective action to supply cost variances.

+ Supports Physicians and other health care provider peer groups in their standardization efforts.

+ Maintains the inventory control system and database, with responsibility for the daily management of informationsystems processing requirements for administering supplies, equipment and services transactions and requests.

+ Proactively works with the Local Product Councils, Perioperative Cost Reduction groups, and the Labor Management Partnership to comply with national standards, to trend spend; to meet budgets, and to identify cost savings opportunities.

Provides direction to storekeeping staff in meeting the Operating Room service requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

+ Minimum five (5) years of experience in combination of purchasing, contracting, material management or other related areas,including previous experience with material management systems and control of an inventory of $5m to $10m.

Education

+ Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, material management, economics or related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

+ High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

+ Proficient in a variety of software applications with the ability to develop complex spreadsheets and write business communications.

+ Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience working in a union environment preferred.

+ Experience in a healthcare environment with specific knowledge of Operating Room medical/ surgical products preferred.

Job Summary:

This position is part of Genentech's exciting Individualized and Cell Therapies program based in Hillsboro, Oregon. In this critical role, you will be part of a dedicated cross-functional team working on production start-up activities such as the design, installation, testing, and validation of manufacturing equipment, processes, and the quality approach for this exciting and novel technology.

Materials Specialist are responsible for the execution of product logistics in a cGMPenvironment. This includes the receipt and inspection, storage, wipe down and issuance of kitted andnon-kitted GMP materials used in production and final product shipping/distribution to our customers.Other responsibilities included performing data entry into various business systems and databasesensuring department compliance with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all work activities in a safe and compliant manner according to all Genentech policies,procedures and trainings
• Receive, identify, quarantine, store, handle, dispense, release, and issue raw materials, startingmaterials, intermediates, reagents, labels, GMP supplies and packaging materials.•Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory (paper and electronic), expiration, and retestrecords for all GMP materials.
• Coordinate disposition of all expired materials and maintain applicable documentation.•Participate in internal GMP inspections when needed
• Proficient in both DOT & IATA shipments, including applicable certifications.•Interface with a variety of departments when coordinating shipping and receiving.•Maintain appropriate training for import/export shipping and receiving. Proficient in associateddocumentation for all import/export activities.
• Maintain general supplies, orders and re-stock GMP areas as required.
• Preform and assist with deviations, change control, and corrective / preventive actions within theestablished Quality management system
• Ability to create and revise standard operating (SOP) reverent to department processes•Access various business systems and input data with a high level of accuracy (i.e.decommissioning of materials, material destruction, plant to plant movements, and other non routine ERP transactions)
• Record creation, collection and storage per corporate retention schedules
• Perform department related project activity that may include investigating, analyzing, formulatingpossible solutions, documenting processes, and communicating results
• Schedules transportation for outgoing shipments for inbound and outbound operations•Using manual labor, pallet jacks, and forklifts, move product and both GMP and non GMPsupplies to and from storage locations and delivery trucks

Qualifications/Requirements:

• BA or BS degree in Business Administration or related fields is preferred
• Materials Specialist = 4-5 years, Senior Materials Specialist = 5-6 years, Master MaterialsSpecialist = 7+ years of experience.
• Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instruction
• Good basic mathematical skills
• Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs
• Proficiency with PC desktop applications and business operations software system•Ability to lead, coach, and influence in a highly cooperative and dynamic environment•Flexibility in assignments and able to work over-time, holidays, weekends and different shifts asrequired to meet business and customer needs
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (if applicable)
