Role Description
We are looking for an experienced chemical, material or metallurgical engineer to join the Advanced Manufacturing team. This team is responsible for developing the novel processes used for manufacturing iron electrodes to be deployed in Form Energy's first commercial product. In this role, you will lead and execute a variety of process development projects related to producing custom iron materials. As such, the position requires a hands-on engineer willing to operate test equipment, analyze results, propose modifications and occasionally design a test apparatus from the ground up. You will dive into lab work and experimental design for critical mechanistic analysis, including wet chemistry, powder processing, and materials characterization.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to develop novel processing technology while doing your part to help combat climate change! You will collaborate with a diversity of teams inside and outside the company, including supply chain, operations, facilities, and external consultants to achieve overall manufacturing success. As the team works toward a common goal of manufacturing high performance electrodes, expect to become deeply entrenched in the intersection space of equipment design, process engineering, and materials engineering.

Steel/iron industry experience is a plus; battery experience is not required.

This opportunity is based out of Form Energy's Eighty Four, PA location (Greater Pittsburgh Area).
What You'll Do:Specify, build/buy, commission and operate pilot scale iron processing equipment necessary to de-risk the production of battery-grade iron at large scale.Collaborate with Battery R&D and Process Engineers to design experiments that inform and validate our process models.Own and execute mission-critical experimental test plans. Analyze, summarize, and visualize data; reach sound conclusions and drive decision making.Train technicians, process engineers, and scientists on new manufacturing equipment and processes.Be a lead-by-example champion for safety. Lead hazard analysis sessions for the development of new equipment and processes.
What You'll Bring:BS in Chemical, Material, or Metallurgical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial or R&D setting. Experience working with combustible gasses and equipment at high temperatures is mandatory.Experience in the operation of bulk material handling and processing equipment, such as hoppers, feeding systems, conveyors, grinding, sieving, blending and metering, and the development of the associated quality measurement systems.A high degree of self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask.Ability to clearly communicate with cross-functional teams and external partners, from plant operators to executives, both verbally and written.

**PDS Tech Inc. is currently hiring for a Sr Materials Engineer to work at the Glendale, AZ Honeywell location.**
**Summary:**

The position will operate within a global Materials Engineering team, working in partnership with other engineers located primarily at the Glendale & Clearwater FL facilities to support the Space & Defense business.

The successful candidate will have the responsibility to ensure designs for assigned programs meet customer requirements. The individual will be performing material engineering tasks associated with the development, design, manufacture, and test of momentum control and guidance systems/sub-components to support the Space & Defense business.

**Responsibilities will include:**

+ The review of customer- and Honeywell-generated requirements to ensure cost effective approaches and to verify performance and environmental requirements are met, preparation of proposal inputs, development of material and process control plans, specifications, corrosion control plans,

+ Materials Identification and Usage Lists, drawing reviews, NSMAR's and other contract deliverable items associated with the Materials Engineering role.

+ In addition to the Design support role, the candidate will also be expected to lead Materials Engineering activities for process/product problem resolution, which can range from problem solving on the production floor to support of large-scale failure investigation activities.

+ The candidate is expected to have a breadth of materials knowledge and the ability develop/drive test plans, coordinate with other Subject Matter Experts across a wide range of disciplines and provide technical guidance to internal and external customers to ensure products meet the reliability requirements for the Space business.

+ The successful candidate will also be expected to be able to perform as an expert in multiple Special Process areas such as Heat Treat, Chem Process, Welding, PB, PBA, Cables & Harness, etc. In this role, the candidate will provide technical expertise to solve process issues, perform technical auditing at Honeywell sites and suppliers and perform process witnessing for critical manufacturing processes.

**Basic Qualifications:**

• B.S. Degree in Materials Science, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines will be considered with appropriate experience.

• Minimum 8-years' industry experience in Design & Applications (Materials & Process) Engineering

CertainTeed Siding R&D is seeking a driven, talented, and energetic engineer or scientist to join the siding team. The Senior Materials Engineer will conduct research and development in various material technologies, and support our plants to improve manufacturing efficiencies. This individual will have product responsibility, which includes; developing the product formulation; scale-up to manufacturing process; solve problems in the plants; and make continuous improvements. This engineer will use fundamental scientific principles, along with the latest research and methods, to reduce risk and to grow CertainTeed's siding business. Work will be under the direction of the material group leader.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Concept development and innovation

* The materials engineer must be familiar with the construction industry and trends to be able to create concepts for new products or useful features for existing products.
* Ability to understand competitor's products using benchmarking, patents, and testing.
* Interpret competitive patents and identify opportunities for product development.
* Demonstrate the ability to develop new materials through product formulation.

Formulation

* Ability to work in the laboratory safely and handle hazardous materials.
* Maintain awareness with industry trends and maintain contact with raw material suppliers.
* Study changes to a product formulation and understand its impact on the product performance.
* Perform sensitivity studies (or DOEs) to understand the effect of a formulation changes.
* Utilize prior literature research to direct efforts in product development and experiments.
* Document and present results to leadership to gain approval for the product launch.

Product Responsibility and Launch

* Prepare project plans, timelines, and presentations to coordinate activities from the project team.
* Identify key characteristics and develop the appropriate methods for QC testing.
* Develop specifications for the raw materials to ensure that product quality is maintained.
* Maintain responsibility of the formulation and advise the plant of proper tolerances and controls.
* Communicate to the plant recommendations for the shelf-life, labeling, storage conditions.
* Partner with the process team to use proven techniques to minimize product variation.
* Ensure that the process is safe for operators and that all environmental regulations are met.
* Ensure that the product meets all industry standard requirements through testing.
* Perform final product tests to gain final leadership approval for performance, aesthetics, and warranty approval.

Continuous improvement

* Properly document results and lessons learned for future use.
* Develop and implement solutions for future quality improvements and cost reduction.
* Promote a safe working environment by through policies, practices and equipment.

Required Qualifications

* BS Degree with a minimum of 7+ years of industry experience, or MS with 3+ years of industry experience, or entry level PhD in: Materials Science/Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience with polymer resins, engineered wood, or coated aluminum for building materials is a plus.
