Broad scope of responsibilities includes oxygen components and systems. · Responsible for working cohesively with a group of engineers responsible for similar products on other applications, actively engaging in team issue resolution. · Capable of managing very broad or numerous projects with high degree of difficulty. · Exercises independent judgment, with minimal input from supervisor. · Identify and manages development activities as appropriate. · Design, analysis, release, and test of parts and/or subsystems for production. · Provides feedback to management (i.e. progress to timing, evaluation of test results). · Releases component designs on-time with excellence. · Manages change control for design responsible components. · Demonstrates that designs meet requirements through analysis, development and validation processes. · Analyzes design through design failure modes effects analysis (DFMEA), Oxygen Hazard Analysis (OHA) · Occasional travel ( EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE · BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related program and a minimum of 5 years of work experience in aerospace valve and regulator design. · CAD experience using Solidworks, Catia, or equivalent tools. · Thorough knowledge of design, development and test engineering, manufacturing and assembly operations. · Thorough knowledge of gas regulator and valve design fundamentals · Familiarity with Aerospace Oxygen design specifications and requirements (MIL, ARP, AS, AIR, CGA, etc) and FAA and EASA regulations regarding oxygen system design. · Ability to manage multiple project assignments as well as identify and remove roadblocks. · High level of understanding of robust engineering tools/methods, i.e. DFMEA, DVP&R · Excellent analytical problem solving skills where problems are very unusual and challenging. · Excellent oral and written communication skills. · Detail oriented, self-motivated with a strong sense of personal ownership and a team attitude. · High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with and motivate others. · Ability to work independently while prioritizing and supporting multiple tasks in a high paced and exciting environment. · Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident. As an Engineer at PLP's headquarters, you will help provide product engineering services, including product development, product modifications, and technical service. Duties & Responsibilities: * Provide technical support to Marketing and Manufacturing for existing product offerings. * Evaluates alternative materials for cost reductions/improved performance. * Helps with new product development and product modification work. * Helps to develop product parameters, specifications, and engineering drawings. * In conjunction with his supervisor and the Purchasing Department, works with vendors concerning tooling and part fabrication issues. * In the product development process helps consider: * Regulator issues * Safety regulations * Application procedures * Quality acceptance criteria * Verification Analysis * Design review requirements * Helps provide technical performance data necessary to support the sale of new and modified products. * Helps extend, after proper testing and engineering evaluation, existing products to affect greater use by customers. * Helps modify products to do specialized jobs required by customer and deemed necessary by marketing or engineering. * Helps in handling field complaints and product failures. Helps analyze problems, solutions, or recommendations after proper engineering and laboratory studies. Consults with Materials Engineer to determine causes of material failures. * Works with Production, Quality Assurance, and Materials Engineer in helping determine acceptable quality and resolving problems of questionable quality of products. * Helps interpret engineering recommendations, customer specifications, and engineering drawings. * Attends technical meetings, conferences, and specialized courses consistent with area of responsibility. * Is capable of developing and conducting material test procedures to comply with industry and customer specifications. Prepares and performs analysis in support of product development. * Uses Pro-E, SolidWorks design, or Auto-Cad software. Qualifications & Requirements: * B.S.
