Are you ready to make an impact and join a creative, forward-thinking team? The Leidos DES (Defense Enclave Services) team is supporting an extensive digital modernization program critical to DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies and currently has an opening for a Senior Network Installation Technician located at Ft. Meade, MD and will require travel.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:The Defense Enclave Services contract will unify the DOD Fourth Estate Defense Agencies and Field Activities' common use information technology systems, personnel, functions and program elements under the direction of DISA's Fourth Estate Network Optimization program office.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: •Must hold an active TS/SCI security clearance. (US Citizenship required)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:•Managing installations and repairs for network systems. •OCONUS and CONUS travel for DOD to perform site surveys of computer networks and cable plant.•Responding to maintenance requests regarding system defects and other issues, troubleshooting problems with network systems by running tests and maintaining inventory for network hardware.•Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations. •Scheduling upgrades and maintenance without interrupting business workflow•Designs, builds, and implements network systems. •Directs compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance. •Troubleshoots network performance issues. •Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions. •Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. •Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. •Manages the purchase, testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems. •Create maintenance tickets. •Understand, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures.•Install and maintain network devices at the site.•Performing necessary upgrades to the network infrastructure as needed.•Mentor/Lead junior team of installation technicians, as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:•Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.•Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting Local Area Networks/Base Area Networks/Wide Area Networks (LAN/BAN/WAN). •Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies.•Hands-on experience with common software and hardware.

BASIC FUNCTION:


Perform a variety of technical duties involved in the inspection, installation, maintenance, adjustment, and repair of audio-visual equipment and public address systems. May also be asked to perform duties of a Network Technician involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer and network systems and related software and peripherals. Train and provide oversight to Network Technicians in the performance of audio-visual tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Any combination equivalent to: associate's degree with course work in computer science or related field and three years increasingly responsible experience involving the installation, maintenance and repair of computer hardware, software, networks, audio visual equipment, and peripherals. Must have strong office, computer and oral and written communication skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the technical aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned field. Incumbents must possess a valid Indiana driver's license.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


1. Inspect a variety of audio-visual equipment such as projectors, amplifiers, televisions, video and cassette recorders, DVD players and language labs to assure proper functioning; troubleshoot, diagnose and repair malfunctions.

2. Maintain audio-visual equipment in proper operating condition; repair or replace defective parts and components as necessary; clean, adjust and lubricate parts and components; dissemble and assemble equipment and devices as needed.

3. Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve malfunctions in public address systems, speakers, microphones, intercoms, headsets, clock systems, bell systems, scoreboards and other related equipment.

4. Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in audio-visual equipment and public address systems.

5. Identify and notify appropriate personnel of equipment misuse and need for outside repair services.

6. Perform work from ladders and scaffolding as needed.

7. Operate a variety of equipment including testers, meters and various hand and power tools; drive a vehicle to conduct work.

8. Install, configure, modify and maintain computer software and peripherals to assure the smooth running of computer work stations; respond to user needs and requests; configure hardware and software to assure proper computer operations and network connectivity.

9. Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve/report hardware, software and application malfunctions; install, configure, maintain and repair a variety of peripherals and network components such as servers, hubs, switches, routers, cabling, modems and printers as required.

10. Train and provide guidance to Network Technicians in the performance of audiovisual tasks; assist employees with performing duties as needed; demonstrate proper job performance skills including problem-solving and record-keeping functions.

11. Prepare computer work stations for staff or student use in individual and lab settings; install, upgrade and update computer software and applications as needed; observe elements of computers, networks and systems for evidence of incorrect performance and make adjustments as needed.

12. Provide technical training and assistance to District personnel concerning the operation of audio-visual equipment as needed; respond to inquiries and provide detailed and technical information concerning related practices, procedures, applications and malfunctions.

13. Prepare, develop and update technical documentation concerning audio-visual and public address systems as assigned.

14. Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.

1Path is seeking a Senior Network Technician for our customer in Littleton, CO to perform identified Move/Add/Change (MAC) activity to include all required network modifications both physical and logical. This position will interact with the customer and vendors daily. Position may also be responsible for moving/adding connections in network closets and terminating port connections at the end location (desk/office/conference room, etc.) as well as necessary changes within the switch to accommodate port activation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform as first responder to ITSM and Service Now problem tickets. Can include a variety of duties to include customer contact, problem identification, and research, taking corrective action, acquiring additional support, documentation, and problem closeout.
  • Support other network personnel as required with the installation/modification of network infrastructure and components. Support during off-hours and weekends may be required for maintenance windows and break/fix.
  • Monitors, controls, and isolates problems in a data communications network. Monitors all network activity. Activates/deactivates network lines according to established schedules. May perform first- and/or second-level problem determination - first level is help desk.
  • Sets up and tests a variety of systems and hardware components prior to field deployment. Analyzes failed equipment according to established methods or procedures and determine whether equipment is repairable in-house or must be returned to the vendor for repair. Performs standard repairs and tests of components or equipment that can be repaired in-house. Tests incoming repaired items from vendor to ensure that repairs were properly done. Ensure compliance with standard IT security rules and regulations.
  • Work with facilities for new buildouts of office spaces and new site for Network cabling Fiber, cooper, power, cabinets, racks and data closets. This includes work on budgeting, pricing out quotes and comparing quotes from cabling / electrical venders.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Network Technician.
  • Secret Security Clearance is required
  • Three years previous hands-on experience in IT or other related fields Fundamental knowledge of networking, hardware, and software. Will be responsible to perform advance Cisco switch configuration from command line layer 2 and layer 3 configurations involving expert knowledge of the Cisco IOS IN AN ENTERPRISE environment. This includes knowledge of HSRP, RPVST, EIGRP, BPDUs, Vlans, Trunks, and VTP.
  • Must demonstrated the ability to prioritize and multitask with strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills and be detail-oriented and able to work within deadlines.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of complex switching problems for Spanning tree, vlans, ether channel and layer 3 routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP and BGP.
  • Over 3 year Working experience of Cisco Wireless support of WAPs and WLCs in lightweight mode running multiple SSIDs and WLANS.
  • Advanced knowledge of Single mode, Multi-mode fiber, copper, cat 6 and other layer 1 cabling troubleshooting including use of TDR and Fluke testers.
  • CCNA or CCENT certification preferred (but not required).
