The fellow should be able to clinically conceptualize a wide variety of cases involving young children and their caregivers with challenging behaviors, attachment and/or relationship problems, developmental delays, and/or other mental health problems and make appropriate referrals. The fellow may also carry cases involving older children and their caregivers. The fellow will also provide consultation, supervision, and training to multidisciplinary professionals. Under the broad oversight of a faculty member, the Staff Scientist will be expected to perform independent or team-based science research. Incumbent will design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures and in some cases design new protocols; prepare and submit manuscripts and grant applications, and present data in lab meetings, seminars, and at national scientific meetings; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory; participate in the training, supervision and guidance of junior technicians, students and postdoctoral fellows.

A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Tulane University, located on the historic Uptown campus in New Orleans. The postdoctoral researcher will join Dr. Shuaihua Gao's laboratory, which investigates the structural and dynamic mechanisms by which estrogen receptor α (ERα) integrates genetic, post-translational, and signaling perturbations to control transcriptional outcomes in hormone-responsive cancers. The successful candidate will lead projects using hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS), protein engineering, and biochemical reconstitution to map how ERα conformational states govern cofactor assembly and therapeutic resistance. Additional opportunities include applying computational modeling, proteomics, and transcriptomic profiling to connect receptor ensembles to gene regulation and testing therapeutic hypotheses in disease-relevant models. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemical/Biomedical Engineering, Structural Biology, or a closely related field. 2. The Staff Scientist will assist/work on the project titled: “Human Endogenous Retroviral Sequences (HERVs) in the Development and Progression of human glioblastoma.” The incumbent's duties will include conducting basic and translational research using in-vivo and in-vitro models, performing cell cultures, molecular biology techniques, RNA and protein isolation, phase contract, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, and gene transfer using plasmid and viral vectors including CRISPR /Cas9 system and stable cell lines generation. The Gragert Lab in the Tulane Deming Department of Medicine, Section of Biomedical Informatics and Genomics, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow with a computational research background in bioinformatics, immunogenetics, and/or transplantation. The Gragert Lab focuses on investigating the role of immune gene variation (HLA and KIR) in transplantation, cancer, and immune-mediated diseases. The role of this postdoctoral researcher will be to develop software and bioinformatics workflows for analysis of immunogenetic data, conduct genetic association studies, and build population genetic models. This position will specifically involve analyzing HLA immunogenetics and antibody data in the context of solid organ allocation and transplant outcomes and other projects as assigned by the principal investigator Dr. Loren Gragert. A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medine, Tulane University School of Medicine to study the molecular mechanisms and pathogenesis of liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma and/or cholangiocarcinoma). The research projects are focused on the effects and mechanisms of several signaling molecules/cascades including epigenetics, epitranscriptomics, non-coding RNAs, RNA splicing factors, and several other key signaling pathways in the regulation of liver cancer cell growth. The studies involve complementary cellular/molecular analyses and mouse models of hepatobiliary carcinogenesis. Successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a scientific field.

The El-Dahr Lab at Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nephrology is seeking an outstanding candidate for a post-doctoral position. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the field of cell/developmental biology or related field. The successful candidate should have demonstrated productivity in related fields and have the talent and dedication to take advantage of the vast resources available at Tulane University. Experience in the following areas is preferred: imaging, sc RNA seq, cell/tissue culture and mice handling. Multiple approaches including molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry and genetic technologies will be used to elucidate the epigenetic regulation of kidney development and diseases, including chronic kidney diseases and kidney cancers. A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Hai Huang in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, and Brain Institute at Tulane University. The aim is to understand the synaptic, neuronal and circuit mechanisms that support reliable and precise auditory information processing and how hearing loss and neurological disorders affect synaptic, neuronal and circuit function, using a combination of techniques, including ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiology, two-photon imaging, computational modeling, molecular biology, and animal models. The successful candidates should have a strong background in neuroscience and experience with electrophysiology.
