Job Purpose

The Senior Product Analyst works with Product Manager to manage assigned product lines, review and approve marketing materials, and test the illustration systems. The Senior Analyst also provides consultation on products to wholesalers and assists in the development and delivery of training materials and presentations. The Senior Analyst will research product enhancements and acts as an expert on assigned company product lines, including advisory based annuities.

Essential Responsibilities

Asist with management of existing product line.Reviews for accuracy and completeness and approves the product-related documents.Evaluates product needs through research and analysis.Simplifies complex concepts into easily deliverable and understandable points for internal and external audiences.Supports existing product initiatives through research and data gathering.Develops and delivers training material and presentations.Fields inbound wholesaler calls and emails to assist with product questions, case design, and illustrations.Works with Competitive Intelligence to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of existing competitors and how other products are being positioned.Understands and effectively positions illustrations and other marketing-related material. The Hartford's Small Commercial Sr. Product Analyst is responsible for conducting comprehensive analysis on product performance within an assigned geographic region.

Sr. Analysts are regularly analyzing profit and growth performance for a given product, providing recommendations on product enhancements, as well as forecasting production trends over a 24 month horizon.

The Sr. Analyst is intimately involved in setting prices, designing product features, adjusting underwriting guidelines, along with direct input into underwriting practices, commission strategies, sales strategies, and other related areas of the business. This role reports to the Product Director within the Small Commercial State Product Management team.
Responsibilities:
The teams are accountable for achieving / exceeding profit and growth targets in assigned markets.Work alongside the Product Director for the region to develop strategic vision and tactical plan that will profitably expand market share within assigned geography Work closely with sales, underwriting, actuarial, and other key business partners to develop and execute local market strategies, ensuring alignment and clarity of vision across the organization.Incorporate company, industry, and competitor information into holistic recommendations;Remain grounded in geography-specific data so that shifts in competitiveness and profitability are well anticipated

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field of study such as Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, Statistics, or Mathematics is preferred, but not required. Ideal candidate will possess insurance product management experience, or professional experience evaluating product, pricing, research and/or underwriting Excellent communication skills required - including visualization of quantitative information for non-technical audiences. Strong technical skills: Demonstrates skills in Excel including the ability to create, manipulate and formulate spreadsheets. Ability to work with larger data sets, interpret results and develop analytical insights.Experience using Python, R, or similar programming language to perform analysis tasks such as: exploratory data analysis (EDA), data cleaning, causal inference, simulation/bootstrapping, modeling, machine learning, or other statistical analysis a plus.Familiarity or experience with databases and querying for analysis tasks such as: experience navigating tables in a database and writing and running basic/intermediate SQL queries to pull data for an analysis.Experience building and using reports and dashboards with Tableau, or a similar business intelligence platform.Solutions-oriented individual, with ability to think strategically and implement change.Drive-for-results mentality, with ability to multi-task and make decisions in a business context.Effective communication skills paired with an ability to influence key business stakeholders and drive alignment between key business partners towards the common goal of profitable growth at a local market level.Ability to develop immediate credibility in unfamiliar environments; including agency partners, affinity prospects, regulators, senior leaders, and cross functional project teams.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. 2+ years' experience in product development, product management or a similar function. Knowledge of health care, general insurance, insurance operations, sales operations, business analysis, key performance indicators, and portfolio management highly preferred.
