Senior production operator job description

The Production Operator role enjoys an outstanding starting wage of $18.00-19.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for a limited time $1,000 sign on bonus. The Production Operator is capable of contributing to all phases of the production process. Included is the operation of automated production equipment, preliminary diagnosis/identification of equipment issues, aiding with preventive maintenance and packaging of final product. Incumbents are expected to demonstrate competency in making production decisions concerning the pre-flight and operation of equipment. Must be flexible to rotate job assignments throughout production. We have variable work schedules.

Work Schedule: Nights 6:00pm - 6:00am -12 hour shift on a 2-2-3 schedule, Days 6:am - 6:00pm - 12 hour shift on a 2-2-3 schedule

Responsibilities

• Ensure that machinery is running properly
• Maintain quality standards
• Comply with GMPs
• Partner with team members to maintain consistent line operation
• Input required information into the ERP system
• Report mechanical problems to supervisor and Maintenance
• Work safely
• Maintain up to date knowledge of machinery in assigned work area
• Keep work are clean and without debris
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic math skills
• Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English to ensure effective training, coaching and safety
• Capable of working on a computer and navigating through multiple screens
• Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Ability to stand a minimum of 8 hours to a maximum of 12 hours on a daily basis

Preferred

• Two (2) years related food production experience preferred
• Experience operating PLC controlled equipment desired

Key Responsibilities:
* The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* Read, understand, and implement written SOPs
* Perform manufacturing/ production tasks as scheduled
* Handle and work with biological and chemical reagents
* Work with laboratory equipment including but not limited to: UV Spectrophotometer, Thermal Cycler, qPCR, robotic systems, centrifuges, multichannel pipettes
* Work in a clean room laboratory environment with adherence to CGMP guidelines
* Review data and recognize and report data inconsistencies
* May train and assist colleagues on production tasks and procedures
* Initiate reports related to production nonconformances
* Solve problems related to the production process
* Follow all safety requirements and escalate issues and concerns
* Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
A combination of education and experience that confer the needed manufacturing, scientific, and laboratory technical skills will be considered such as:
* High School Diploma/ GED and at least two (2) years of related laboratory experience or 2 years college course work in Biotechnology, Sciences, or other technical field. or
* Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field
Required:
* Ability to write basic SOPs and other common production documents
* Ability to perform basic laboratory calculations
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
* Able to work critical and shifting timelines while demonstrating a 'can do' attitude
* Ability to work overtime and nonstandard work schedules as required to meet production schedule
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
* Frequently work at laboratory workstation, operating equipment, low temperature freezers, and computer workstations
* Some lifting of objects including laboratory instrumentation of 35 pounds
* May handle sharps such as needles and biologic substances of human and animal origin

**What You Will Achieve**

The Senior Production Operator I (SPO) may perform any combination of the following: Operate, tend, monitor, service, changeovers, make minor/major adjustments, assemble, disassemble, clean and sterilize one or more of a variety of production related equipment in compliance with equipment, product and process cGMP's and safety/security regulations.

**How You Will Achieve It**

+ Performs necessary machine set-up, repairs, adjustments, changeovers and preventative maintenance on production equipment.

+ Makes emergency repairs and replacement of identical parts recommending to supervisor the plan of action on equipment, including replacement, modifications and rebuilding.

+ Performs operation of production equipment with responsibility for production efficiency, utility and equipment downtime.

+ Stays current with training requirements and follow SOPs, cGMPs, batch records, TCPs, BOMs and POPs.

**Qualifications**

**Must-Have**

+ High school education or equivalent required

+ At least one-year manufacturing work experience

+ Must possess necessary mechanical skills to perform the required machine set-up, repairs and adjustments in order to keep equipment operating efficiently.

+ Computer (PC) experience plus knowledge of Word, Excel is helpful.

+ Must be able to read and write as well as follow and provide written and oral instructions.

+ Must be able to gown aseptically and retain certification regardless of the assigned area.

+ Must be able to withstand exposure to inks, solvents, heat, steam and liquids.

+ Stay current with training requirements.

+ Must be able to communicate and work well with others

+ Must demonstrate leadership skills, self-motivated, able to work independently and have a problem-solving mindset.

**Nice-to-Have**

+ Prior mechanical/refrigeration repair experience preferred.
