Senior production supervisor job description

Detailed knowledge of production support systems, procedures and processes. Experience in Production, PC skills and SAP and WMS are a plus. Good verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills are required to interact effectively with different authority levels and personnel. Must be able to promote a team effort to achieve common goals, as well as give constructive feedback. Good problem solving and decision skills are essential. Must have understanding of established safety/quality standards and the ability to communicate them. Must be able to withstand environment with exposure to food allergens, dust and varying temperatures. Physical requirements include standing for long periods, walking, bending, reaching, twisting and lifting up to 20 pounds. Must be flexible as scheduled hours may vary to fit productions requirements. Weekends and overtime may be required. Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.

The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Specifically, the responsibilities of this position include:
Supervise production and technical activity of production lines.
Monitor departmental performance metrics to insure production requirements are met.
Provide first level of support for any escalated issue during work shift.
Train, motivate, and support staff in all areas of company and departmental procedures and expectations.
Coach and council employees on performance deficiencies and document as required as well provide positive reinforcement and encouragement when performance is on target.
Complete employee attendance and payroll requirements.
Prepare and administer daily performance feedback and reporting as required.

Required Experience

5 + years of supervisory experience in a materials/distribution environment is preferred
Trained in lean production techniques a plus
An understanding of Oracle purchasing module is a plus
Previous experience working in a high volume distribution, manufacturing, technical service (i.e. testing and repair) or forward logistics operation a plus
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). College Degree a plus

Jabil Asheville site is a high-speed automated assembly site for Jabil. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and specializes in injection molding and assembling precision pharmaceutical components. Operations on site harness Lean Six Sigma principles, driving continuous improvement in order to best support Jabil customer innovations, and ultimately help deliver their products to market quickly and reliably.

Ensures Production Supervisors and Supervisors In Training are effective in their roles.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Evaluates data and audit processes to support the success of the plant.· Sets expectations and guides the Production Supervisors to meet the expectations of continuous improvement while running a profitable and efficient production line.· Provides exceptional support to customers, team members, and shareholders.· Drives continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management.· Assesses the adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by the work cells.· Assures that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant.· Offers new ideas and suggestions for improvement.
