The Opportunity
Perkins Eastman is seeking a talented Project Manager to help grow our new Kansas City office. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with the Managing Principal to cultivate a vibrant design culture and expand our regional and national impact.

In this leadership capacity, youll oversee projects from inception to completion, managing design phases, client relationships, schedules, and financial performance. Youll serve as a trusted advocate for both clients and internal teams, fostering collaboration across architecture, engineering, and equipment planning disciplines. Additionally, youll support business development efforts through proposal writing and client interviews, helping to shape the firms future growth.

Primary Responsibilities
* Partner with the Principal-in-Charge to develop proposals and scope documents
* Manage client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact
* Lead projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring alignment with contracts, budgets, schedules, and design goals
* Direct project teams, assign roles, and manage staffing to meet milestones
* Oversee budgeting, billing, and coordination with consultants and internal teams
* Guide the architectural team through design development, documentation, and contract administration
* Maintain quality and schedule across multiple concurrent projects
* Support business development through proposal writing and client presentations
* Develop work plans, schedules, and fee structures in coordination with leadership
* Lead contract negotiations with owners and consultants
* Engage early with Authorities Having Jurisdiction to streamline approvals
* Contribute to strategic growth across the Central Region and multiple practice areas
* Implement quality control and technical assurance protocols
* Maintain communication and oversight throughout construction
* Monitor and report on project financial performance and forecasting
* Establish documentation protocols to ensure coordination across teams
* Mentor junior staff and foster professional development
* Represent Perkins Eastman at industry events and client engagements
Required Qualifications
* Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture (required)
* Minimum 7+ years of experience, including healthcare projects (Behavioral, Wellness, Community preferred)
* Proven success managing projects of varying scale from renovations to large, complex developments
* Strong leadership, team management, and client relationship skills
* Excellent verbal, written, graphic, and technical communication abilities
* Familiarity with local and regional codes and jurisdictional processes
* Broad experience across project types and delivery methods
* Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Project Management software, and Microsoft Office Products
* Deltek Vision, experience (preferred)
* Skilled in critical thinking, decision-making, and collaborative problem-solving
* Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
* LEED and/or WELL accreditation (preferred)
* Architectural licensure (preferred)
* Willingness to travel as needed
