Loureiro Engineering Associates is seeking a Senior Project Scientist or Geologist to add to our Environmental team in Connecticut.

Responsibilities:

* Overseeing the completion of investigation and/or oversight projects including air, soil, sediment, and groundwater sampling; remedial construction management or oversight; installing, developing and sampling monitoring wells; logging soil borings and collection of soil samples; drum and waste sampling;
* Ensure technical accuracy as part of a project team performing preliminary assessments, site investigations, remedial investigations/actions, site surveys, feasibility studies as part of providing solutions to clients under CT RSR, CERCLA, RCRA and other environmental compliance regulations;
* May serve as lead client contact for the technical progress of certain projects and manage scope and schedule of projects.
* Writing and ensuring technical accuracy of documents, including field oversight documentation reports, field reports, health and safety plans, quality assurance project plans, field sampling plans, data management plans, remedial investigation reports and feasibility studies.
* Participate in and lead preparation of proposals.

Requirements:

* B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or another related discipline;
* 5-10 years' experience in environmental consulting;
* Phase I and II and Remediation experience a plus;
* Prior experience overseeing and working with subcontractors (e.g., drillers, construction workers, surveyors, etc.) while performing fieldwork, is a plus;
* Strong communication, analytical, and technical writing skills;
* Prior experience with environmental site investigation/remediation;
* Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed;
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environment. Knowledge in organizing, planning, and prioritizing work;
* OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred.

As a Project Scientist (Mass Spectrometry Senior Scientist), you will work independently and in cooperation with the Principal Investigator to make significant and creative contributions to a research or creative project in any academic discipline. You may be an ongoing member of a research team or may be employed for a limited period of time to contribute high-level skills to a specific research or creative program. Project Scientists are not required to carry out independent research or to develop an independent research reputation and do not have teaching responsibilities. Ordinarily, the Project Scientist title will carry out research or creative programs as well as administration of day-to-day lab operations with supervision by a member of the Professorial Series.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITES:



The Mass Spectrometry Senior scientist will be responsible for independent operation and maintenance of several LC-MS systems. Operation will consist of planning and driving research projects, clinical studies and trials with the assistance of research scientists and post-doctoral fellows. Maintenance will consist of routine instrument cleaning, calibration following established SOPs and troubleshooting of system errors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:




Strong leadership experience and communication skills.
The ability to independently conduct research while accomplishing established goals.
Work closely with academic lab leadership, key opinion leaders and PIs in order to appropriately evaluate/validate established and new quantitative mass spectrometry via LC/MS, digital immunoassays, or related techniques for protein and or small molecule analysis.
Maintain assigned lab efficiency standards, with a consistent focus on project deadlines, and performance metrics.
Review and write up standard operating procedures, research and clinical study reports, and peer-reviewed scientific publications.
Research associates may in part report to this position; as such, the candidate will participate in staff performance assessment and career development.




ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




May assist in preparation of grant proposals, submissions, publications and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
May serve as PI for certain grants as approved by supervising member of the Professorial Series.
May participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
May develop, adapt and implement new research techniques and protocols.
Assists in lab experiments.
Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and compiles data.
May lead or train Staff Research Associates and Research Fellows.
Will assist in day-to-day laboratory activities.
Appointees on an academic trajectory will be expected to commit a portion of their time to developing an independent range of research.

PhD or highest degree in analytical chemistry or similar field is required

Experience:




A minimum of three (3) years as a Postdoctoral Fellow.
Completion of postdoctoral appointment in area of specialization.
Knowledge of PI's area of research specialization.

One to five (1-5) years' experience in operation of LC-MS systems.
Scientific background in mass spectrometry (MS) and analytical chemistry with direct hands on experience in development of LC-MS/MS assays for small molecules, peptides, and proteins.
Experience with assay automation, multiplexing, and validation.
Strong organization and scientific writing skills, with a record of contributions to publications.
Demonstrated experience with managing deadlines and people.
Experienced with implementation of high throughput mass spectrometry, automation technology, and multiplexing biomarker assays, preferred.
Familiarity of Proteomics software and Bioinformatics tools, preferred.
Three (3) years of project management experience is preferred.

**This Opportunity**

WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Senior Lead Project EHS Scientist** to join our Earth and Environment Team. The main projects this person will be supporting are based out of our **Jacksonville, FL** office, but will consider other locations **Nationwide.** This individual will provide auditing and technical support on a variety of environmental health and safety (EHS) projects.

**Your Impact**

+ Conducting field assignments, such as performing EHS compliance audits, chemical inventory assessments, job hazard assessments, aspect and impact assessments, EHS risk assessments and other similar assignments.

+ Developing, supporting and implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems.

+ Providing EHS compliance program support for industrial clients including developing work procedures, preparing regulatory permit applications, preparing and submitting periodic regulatory reports (e.g., EPCRA Tier II, TRI, and RCRA Biennial reports), and preparing and conducting EHS training programs.

+ Preparing technical reports, including documentation of audits and field investigative procedures, data management and interpretation, and development of graphical and tabular presentation of data.

+ This individual should expect to spend approximately 50% of their work time at client sites throughout the United States. This individual should be capable of conducting visual inspections at industrial facilities, including climbing ladders, walking up stairs , and wearing Personal Protective Equipment when required. The individual will gain increasing responsibility for project and proposal management through training provided by Golder.

**Who You Are**

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or similar scientific discipline.

+ 5 to 7 years of experience working as an environmental scientist or EHS compliance specialist completing assignments such as environmental surveys, regulatory reviews/permitting, inspections, EHS training, environmental due diligence assessments, and/or habitat and impact assessments.

+ 5 to 7 years of EHS experience with working knowledge of applicable EHS regulations such as: CAA, CWA, EPCRA, RCRA, TSCA, OSHA, DOT.

+ Knowledge of and experience with reviewing and applying Federal, state, and local EHS regulations.

+ Experience developing and auditing EHS programs in industrial settings.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and proposal writing.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and web-based applications.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Master's Degree is preferred.

+ Certification in field, including ASP, CSP, CHMM, REM or equivalent.

+ 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.

+ Master's degree in Environmental Science; Chemistry; Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences, or related discipline.

+ Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems. Formal auditor training is preferred but not required.
