BAE Systems is seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer for a position based in Fort Wayne Indiana. The position requires quality engineering experience that is necessary to focus on successful program execution of production and sustainment programs. This position will support manufacturing by representing the customer requirements and ensuring product quality. The responsibilities include:
Hardware inspections First Article Inspections (FAI) Facilitation of multifunctional Root Cause Corrective Actions Quality Management System Audits Analysis of escape / defect data to drive continuous improvement/zero defects Control of Non-Conforming Materials including leading containment and disposition activities Material Review Board and Failure Review Board Manufacturing Support for Production Build including Corrective Action Board and Configuration Control Board Error proofing Documentation preparation for customer presentation / Sell Off Presentation of product for customer and/or DCMA acceptance (Sell Off)
The successful candidate should possess a working knowledge of AS9100 and be able to work successfully on a multifunctional team in a fast paced environment.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills


Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline and 4 years of experience or 8 years of experience in lieu of degree AS9100 or ISO 9000 understanding Must be able to obtain a security clearance Able to interpret drawings and specifications Effective interpersonal skills Experience leading Root Cause and Corrective Action activities Experience with AS9201 First Article Inspection Attention to detail Proficient in MS Office Products including Word. Excel, and Power Point


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills


Bachelor's degree in engineering 4+ years experience in Hardware Quality Engineering PPAP and PFMEA Lean Six Sigma Analysis and Tools Experience

Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains internal documentation in compliance with FAA regulatory standards for products and processes. Assists in regulatory compliance activities using knowledge of Part 145.

• Assesses quality performance through metrics specific to the repair station (i.e. LISC, internal reworks, test failures, etc. Devises and implements various complex methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products, processes, and production equipment. • Reviews customer requirements and ensuring flowdown to operations by collaborating with Product Support Engineer and Manufacturing Engineering to develop approved/acceptable repair instructions. • Assesses the cost of, and determines the responsibility for cost of poor quality resulting from low first-pass-yield, test failures, excessive scrap, excessive rework, excessive re-test, etc. • Provides input on quality to repair/aftermarket production team; recommends producibility improvements by facilitating process reviews, addressing technical data packages, manufacturing methods, equipment, tooling , assess current capability and establish required training. • Identifies quality performance, trends and corrective action by coordinating with customers and suppliers. Ensures compliance to specified quality and regulatory requirements by performing in‐house and supplier audits and surveys. Develops and initiates programs to improve supplier performance. • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities. • Acts as member of the Material Review Board / Aftermarket Repair Review and participates in related activities, failure analysis and corrective action investigations. • Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical areas of production. • Represents company by interfacing with customers and regulatory agencies and assisting with internal and external audits. May act as main contact in customer audit. Develops and coordinates corrective action procedures and plans. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state‐of‐the‐art practices, maintaining American Society for Quality certification, and/or participating in other professional associations. • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and regulatory requirements by studying existing and new legislation and regulations, ensuring adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. • May provide leadership to others in department. Acts as prime contact on high level projects. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. • Shares specialized knowledge with others. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross‐functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement).

• Bachelors degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
